Humbersi The first must-see film of the year.
Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
joshj-39314 Good to watch if u need a laugh, watched it a few years ago with my friends, I wouldn't watch it again but I'm glad I watched it. It was the lowest rated horror film of 2014 which I think is unfair, so I give it a 10/10 to boost the ratings
nathanielqwilson This is a movie that has no delusions about what it is. It's a dumb little piece of horror comedy but within those parameters it's made so intelligently.Maybe that's going a bit far but it's heaps of gorey fun that makes you lower your guard so that it does get some scares in amidst some breast and at least a couple of twists I never saw coming. It has a sweet setting and the characters were fleshed out enough though I was quite glad to see at least one of them get beavered. Also, the choice to use animatronic beavers, not CGI, sets this apart from the money other nickel a dozen creature features out there. It's a competent pastiche of both the zombie genre and the zombie parody genre.
TdSmth5 In the intro two goofs are transporting some tanks of toxic material. They run over a dear. In the process one of the tanks falls off the truck and into a lake near a beaver dam.Three girls spend a weekend out in the country near said lake. One of them is the sweet likable girl, the other one just broke up with her guy (there's always one of those in the movies,) the other one is annoying and doesn't care about anything. It's supposed to be a girl-only getaway but it doesn't take long for the guys to arrive. When they go swimming in the lake a beaver bites off one of the guy's feet. They barely make it back to shore. Inside the house is another wild beaver. They learn that it won't die, it's a zombie beaver.Soon unfortunately it gets dark and zombeavers are everywhere. Some of the kids try to escape but the beavers chop down trees and block the road. They run into an armed hunter who helps and they escape to the neighbors' house who are already dead. The others back at the house board up the doors and windows but the beavers break though the floor. From here you would think that it's just a matter of the kids trying to survive the beaver attack for the night. But there are actually some neat surprises that I didn't expect.Zombeavers is a short movie. For no good reason it tries to be one of those lame teen gross-out comedies. They could easily have gone for straight horror, it's not like this movie is so tasteless that they had to dress it up as a comedy to make it palatable. After all, despite all the innuendo things are fairly tame. There is no rampant graphic nudity, but there is male genitalia for some reason. Female full frontal nudity is nowhere in sight and pretty much extinct from horror movies. Another problem are the dislikable characters. Most of them are just lousy people. You can't wait for almost all of them to be torn to pieces. Rachel Melvin and her character Mary is likable but some male character who survives the longest is just insufferable. They way these people treat each other is also hard to stomach. The music is far too ambitious with the usual awful orchestration that is so generic it makes the movie boring.Despite all this, the movie is enjoyable. There are a lot of shots that are nods to classic horror movies and that horror buffs will easily recognize. There is some gore, a bit of nudity, and just an enthusiastic spirit that is lacking in most horror.Overall an entirely respectable effort that could have easily been improved. It just falls short of something that could have reached minor cultstatus.
gorepump Just because it's a movie called "Zombeavers" and I may or may not have been in an alcohol-clouded state of mind a few nights ago that may or may not have required a viewing choice of a rather undemanding nature. Either way, I watched this. Did it exceed my incredibly low expectations? No. Is it at least enjoyable? Barely.A container of toxic waste rolls off a truck driven by a pair of idiots and it floats into a beaver dam, turning the little critters into vicious, glowing-eyed zombeavers. More clichés are piled on as a trio of babes arrive at a remote cabin to help get their friend's mind off her cheating boyfriend - who later shows up with the other girls' dimwitted boyfriends to party. Then the zombeavers show up...As for it's strengths - the cheezy hand puppet beaver effects were kind of enjoyable; there's a nice pair of tits as well as the stand- out scene in which a little dog is sacrificed to the zombeavers. Other than that, it's got gore but it seemed considerably scant seeing as how this is a movie that had very little going for it, overall. Any off- screen zombeaver attack (of which this movie has several...) is unacceptable, as far as I'm concerned. Also, the point in the movie where people begin turning into anthropomorphic zombeavers was just too imbecilic for me, I'm afraid. The stupidity of this film's concept 'jumped the shark' with that sh*t, but thankfully the end was near."Zombeavers" isn't worth a DAM and needed more bloody beaver carnage!More of my reviews @ http://swinesewage.blogspot.com/
