Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
jollylolly OPEN GRAVE : 9/10 .No big shots starring in this movie but it's one of the best thrillers ive watched so far. Every scene leads to another clue , another thrill, to solving the mystery. Every scene keeps me in suspense, and that is what i enjoy the most. Love it.
matiasvirtanen =contains spoilers=I very rarely write reviews but seeing the quite high grading score in IMDb and the reviews (which were mostly positive), made me to analyze my own sanity as I hated this movie. The movie was really a bad one!Few really nonsensical elements ruined it for me: 1) The mute, non-English speaking woman, who was still emotionally attached with the rest of the group. It made very little sense. Even if there were some really unlikely events behind the lack of communication, nobody ever tried to really communicate with her during the movie and she made no effort either. OK I guess we could say "ok" she was just mentally challenged and incapable of drawing stick figures to close the language gap, and leave it to it. 2) Soldiers not giving a crap were the survivors infected or not. 3) At the end, the huge pile of corpses and the hint that the main guy had done this cycle many many times before, was surreal.Good premise, could have been a good movie, but not. Stay away. Watch "the cube" or "the exam" instead, if the like the genre. Peace and out.
bbriddell Seems like a movie written from the end to the beginning. No real character development. The mysterious element of the movie is used to cover up a lack of story/story development.Over contrived mess that eventually has you fast forwarding through to the ending to see if it was worth even 15 mins of your time. Nope.I approached this as a student film or the unpolished type of film. Unfortunately, no matter how much rope you give this movie; it still hangs itself.I watched because some of the reviews were not gre8, just OK and figured at least it would be worth a watch. Nope.My advice, pass on this one.
David Arnold OK straight to the point here...Open Grave is absolutely dire. I saw the trailer for it and thought that it looked like a really good, atmospheric psychological thriller. Amazing how a trailer can portray a movie to be what it's not as this film was none of what the trailer made it out to be.For me, the feel of the movie was basically a cross between The Walking Dead and 28 Days Later, but was nowhere near as good. In fact, it feels like it should be a crime just putting it in the same sentence as those two features. The film started off well enough, and it seemed like it could get better as it went on as there was plenty of opportunity for this, but just the opposite happened...it got slow, dull, and was non-eventful for the majority of the time.I've read reviews describing Open Grave as atmospheric & eerie. Well, those viewers must have watched a completely different movie to what I did because these elements were lacking just as much as the rest of the film. The cast, for the main part, was OK, and I think Copley is a pretty excellent actor, but even he couldn't save this and for me his American accent put me off as well. It would have been much better if they let him keep his South African accent and if you're in doubt about that, compare him in District 9 to this garbage. It's a completely different feel with his normal accent compared to the put on accent. As for the the twist at the end - if you could call it a twist - well, what an anti-climax that was. There are more twists in a game of chess than there were here. If the ending was better it might have redeemed the movie just a bit for me, but that was just as dull as the previous 90 minutes. This is definitely one to avoid but if you must watch it, then just be prepared for 1hr 40mins of boredom.
