Wordiezett So much average
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Forumrxes Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Joey Ro Anyone who says this is bad doesn't know their movies,as someone with European descent I see the greatness of this movie! As with the movie toys it has a childlike feel, and Dana carvey is pretty funny! It reminds me of my childhood,as I saw this as a kid and laughed! Check this movie out!
Terryfan I remember one summer in 2002 my older brother and I were getting pizza and thought why not rent some movies so we went to Hollywood Video/Blockbuster to see what we could find. The Master Of Disguise was one of those movies we found. Honestly we never heard so we thought it wouldn't hurt to see it. Now I love movies and I try to watch some with open minds this one is actually pretty funny. Is it a masterpiece? No but did I enjoy it? Yes because there is actually more to this movie than many give it credit for.The plot of the film centers around Pistachio Disguisey (Dana Carvey) who must train to become a Master of Disguise after his parents Fabbrizio Diguisey (James Brolin) and Mother Disguisey (Edie McClurg) are kidnapped by Devlin Bowman (Brent Spiner) Devlin has plotted revenge on the Disguisey family after Fabbrizio set him up to spend 20 years in prison so Devlin blackmails Fabbrizio into becoming a master of disguise once again to help him get the world's rarest treasure. So it is up to Pistachio to save his parents with help from his assistant Jennifer Baker (Jennifer Esposito) along with Grandfather Disguisey (Harold Gould) Plot wise it works for the theme of the film and it actually was interesting for a family film. And it feature some of the most creative comedy I have seen in a long time such as the "This is what you're doing this is what I want you to do" and I just roll with the "Turtle,Turtle,Turtle" I still laugh at the quotes even now.I recently watch the film again and still found it to be quite enjoyable as the first time I watch it. Now that being said it is not a perfect movie but I actually was entertain by the film so how could I care? Also I enjoy seeing how the cast made their characters work in the film. This is just one of those films if you just watch it with a open mind you might find it to be enjoyable. I mean it has some creative humor that is not seen anymore along with some creative disguises for the film and it's fun there is not too many movies being made today that are actually fun anymore Just give the film a try you might be surprise how well it is actually is Dana is funny in this film and Jennifer makes a good love interest for the protagonist and I never thought I would see Brent as a villain. If you sit down and just open your mind you'll see that there is more to this movie than you are lead to believe it just one of those films you should look past the junk and see the treasure.I give The Master Of Disguise an 7 out of 10
williams-joshua-83 When Dana produced this movie, he wanted one that his kids could see without there being anything bad in it. When it came out, I was 18. Even though I knew it was going to be a kids movie, I still wanted to see it because of Dana Carvey. Being a kids movie and knowing his motivation, I wasn't expecting some blockbuster comedy that apparently most of the other critics of this movie were. It's a silly stupid kids movie with ridiculous slap stick! If you go into it expecting anything more than that last sentence, you are going to be disappointed. Otherwise, prepare for some good belly laughs! I came on here today to look up this movie again because a line popped into my head. If I had access to my parents' DVD collection, I'd be sitting down to watch it with my little girl tonight!!!
Tzsm98 This is the perfect film for an eight year old boy. It's a little crude, but not overly so. It has some physical humor and sight gags that almost everybody will find amusing. It is a just a little over 80 minutes long, another plus. It's not like you are investing "Lawrence of Arabia" like time into this. It has some mild comic violence, think Three Stooges for level of violence and then crank it back a little bit. This movie suffers from what several movies made by refugees from Saturday Night Live have suffered from - it is incredibly difficult to make a full length motion picture out of a three minute skit. Dana Carvey does over the top caricatures familiar to anyone who watched SNL when Carvey was in the cast. I watched this film several years ago and thought it was pretty dumb. I watched it again with my eight year old grandson and his appreciation of it made me rethink my opinion a bit. It is not a "date night" film, for sure, but if you are a babysitter of boys 6-10 years old this will hold their attention and make them laugh.
