Grimerlana Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Taha Avalos The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Bumpy Chip It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
quinnfalk Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill is a joke. A gag. Sandler has sunk to his absolute lowest, playing both Jack and Jill poorly. Both main characters are not only unlikable, but also Adam Sandler. It made us want to rip our eyes out just to end the film. The Jared joke aged incredibly poorly, especially with the child audience that this film shoots for. I am embarrassed not only for Adam Sandler, but also every single member on this production. They should all be ashamed of what they created, as well as curious as to why they would even release this. It almost seems like a practical gag and yet no one is laughing or winning in the joke. Al Pacino probably plays his worst role ever, and he plays himself just like every other actor in this movie. INCLUDING David Spade. However, David Spade not only had nice tits but also a killer belly button ring. He was hotter than Rob Schneider in Hot Chick. In conclusion, Happy Madison has disappointed us yet again. I'm questioning why we keep giving Adam so many god damn chances to redeem his name, when it is clearly not ever going to work. Except for maybe in Pixels?
benjaminweber I finally managed to watch the whole thing on my second attempt. The first time was when it came on television. It was switched off fairly promptly. This is the only film where I have felt it necessary to spray myself with deodorant, or to use an air freshener in the room while it played. That's how much this film stinks. The basic premise is that Adam Sandler plays two characters: one who is nails-on-a-chalkboard irritating, and another who we're meant to sympathise with when they have to put up with the other one. This might provide humour for ten minutes in another film, where the protagonist has already been established. However, when it's the entire film it's not funny, it's just Adam Sandler in a dress doing one of his horrible voices. Throw in a bunch of other unfunny and sometimes just offensive jokes and voila, you have the perfect storm of Adam Sandler, because at the end of the day, this is just another bad Adam Sandler film.
Generic Jeebus I know I'm beating a long dead horse here, but I figure a warning's in order before it manages to attract any flies. The movie simply isn't funny, Adam Sandler did not need to play both Jack and Jill, the gimmicky setup did not work in Norbit and does even less so here. I wish I could say that the supporting cast had helped but it seemed to me hat every line fell flat, that most of the dialogue was punchline after punchline with never any setup, if there is no windup you're punch isn't going to have any force to it. The only reason I found myself able to give this movie more than one star is from one line by Al Pacino nearing the end of the movie. "Burn this. It must never be seen, by anyone." the only part of the movie that managed to make me laugh as it honestly seemed the only self awareness it had. It's just a shame that you would have to sit through the entire movie to see it but, that's what the internet is for.
sara-rn I watched this with my partner because we thought 'it might be so bad that we could get a laugh from it'. There were no laughs, or giggling, not even scoffing. This movie was just plain boring.Imagine this: You're at a social event and you hear two people bickering, it's not endearing, you don't care about them, you just watch them hoping it will stop, since you also don't give a rat's ass about what they're bickering over. That's this movie.Or Imagine this: You're watching paint dry. That's this movie. Just imagine Adam Sandler arguing against Adam Sandler. I can't imagine anything worse. A double dose of Adam Sandler. Actually, Jill was more endearing than the man himself and she's an annoying character on purpose, who we are supposed to dislike. But to be honest, Sandler's character was the lamest out of all. Once again, Sandler tries to big himself up 'the righteous family man, with a hot wife, who is plagued by his annoying sister! He tries to keep calm and have a nice relationship with her, but alas, she's just too much!" His character was exactly the same type he has played for the last ten years and that's why I say Jill is actually a tiny bit likable. But even so I would not recommend this Adam Sandler show to anybody. Fart jokes, awful CG gags, distasteful jokes about Mexicans being gardeners and crossing the border (how is Hollywood still not sick of these? Do we still find it funny?), jokes about Jews, product placement, hysterical screaming.... Oh, Jhonny Depp makes a cameo for some reason... Not even a smile. I actually don't know how I stayed awake through this.
