Tayloriona Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Taha Avalos The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Eric Stevenson Disney's animated shows have given us some of the best entertainment of all time, but the same can't be said about their live-action shows. Come to think of it, I can't think of a single one that most people really like. As far as those go, there's nothing too good or bad about this one. I'm somewhat familiar with the "Lizzie McGuire" series, but I honestly don't think I've ever watched a single live-action Disney show. I look forward to the day when there's one that people can sincerely enjoy. Anyway, this is pretty typical with its clichés. We have Lizzie embarrassing herself at graduation and then there's this friend who eventually falls for her.The movie itself doesn't have anything particularly stupid or offensive, so I guess it's harmless enough to show to kids. I actually do like those little animated parts with her. It does make me reckon back to the days of traditionally animated films. Oh, and we get the rich bully who ends up helping the main character. To be fair, this wasn't really a cliché at this point. It's just been done infinitely better in shows like "Gravity Falls" and "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". For me, it's just bland, but I'm too old to care for it. **
neenahhh This movie was a great ending to the 'Lizzie McGuire' TV show. I'm left wanting for more, but alas. Nevertheless, the ending worked even if things could have been improved on.If I had to describe 'The Lizzie McGuire Movie' in one word, it would be FUN. This whole movie just had a happy feel to it! I couldn't help feeling happy when watching it! The music was really great and really set the mood for the movie. I loved the last dance number. I remember being really taken in awe when I first watched that performance 7 years ago. Now that I'm older, even if I was never a hardcore fan of the 'Lizzie McGuire' franchise, I can say that rewatching this movie brought back feelings of nostalgia. 'The Lizzie McGuire Movie' was definitely one of Disney's best original works.Viewed on: April 11, 2011
Jenny Jones I watched the Lizzie show with my Seven-Year-Old sister once, and was immediately appalled. When the movie came out, I had to take her to see it, and I nearly vomited. The entire plot is lacking in development, and it is purely Hilary walking around with a boy toy and singing poorly. The scene with 'hair bleached by the sun' is extremely insulting to the fashion industry, which is hypocritical of Ms. Duff and her little girl clothes line. I mean, the singer Macguire is supposed to resemble is represented with black hair, and as a brunette, I know that dark hair doesn't get lighter. Obviously the pop star theme went to her head, 'cause this is almost certainly the beginning of her screeching career.
Christopher-Peznola High Quality "big screen" translation of a TV concept! Ed Decter, and his writing colleagues have done it again! Their seriously intelligent writing, packed with lots of funny, interesting dialog, has transformed a popular TV icon into a great family film with lots of positive messages, and no preachy delivery. Decter and Strauss remind me of the "old school" style of collaborative comedy writers, the kind that results in virtually virtually "no holes" in the plot, story or the viewers enjoyment. I don't know the Hollywood lingo, but the movie moves smoothly and has a tight, clean feel to its dialog. In many ways, The Lizzie McGuire Movie is even better work than their insanely successful "Something About Mary", as it relies more on character development and depth, with insights into the younger generation that are uncanny (and less on Farrelly Brothers style slapstick).Disney is lucky to have these guys working for them! Their work is in many ways the "un-Disney" Disney movie. No formulas, no saccharine, just a good, fun story with a positive message that is delivered with aplomb and style.Hillary Duff's work is, in my humble opinion, her best yet in this film, and the highly effective use of the classic "nerd/adult" Robert Carridine, again brings out the best in these sometimes under rated, and often pigeon holed actors.I am really looking forward to the next Santa Clause movie, as the first two simply blew me away with their quality of writing, production and acting.I hope to see more work like this from the Decter/Strauss team.
