Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Janis One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
kkassuee If only I could give this movie minus points. Don't get me wrong - I'm a 90s baby who grew up watching Hilary Duff gems like Lizzie McGuire and Cinderella Story and I've got nostalgic love in my heart for Hilary but seriously, this piece of "cinema" is the worst thing I have ever seen. The first five minutes made me gag not only because of the insipid dialogue but also because of the misogynistic portrayal of women. Again, don't get me wrong. I love a good romantic comedy. Take Bridget Jones for example: a naive, yet charming single woman who is relatable and familiar. You know, the everyday girl. In Beauty and the Briefcase, Duff is portraying a ditzy bimbo whose life is about men, men and men (though boys might be more accurate as she acts like a 16-year-old). She walks around in skintight clothes, checking things off her list of requirements for men like sexy accent, sense of style, same taste in food and lies about her resume. She still manages to snatch a job in a finance firm where her only concern is how many men can she date.Anyways, I have no idea who the target audience is supposed to be as I truly hope no one can identify with the character of Hilary Duff. This is pro-men rights porn at its worst and genuinely the shittiest film I have ever seen.
donnachenn I read many negative reviews on the movie it's self and the actress Hilary Duff. But in all honest, these are the kind of movies i like and everyone is entitled to their own opinions but thats just their opinion- they just don't like this movie. I like this movie and i love how Hilary Duff acts, in fact, i want her in more movies like these. This movie was a breathe of fresh air, it's funny and romantic = romantic comedy = perfection. I saw the comments on this movie and one of them said something like "you've got to be kidding" etc. I kept that in mind while watching the movie and i have to say that the person writing that comment doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Before you judge this movie, you've got to at least "test" and watch it before bashing on it. you can't make the audiences believe that its a bad movie, because some audience such as i, like this movie. The movie was nice, sweet, nothing extravagant just a little romantic comedy.. it's simple, if you are the kind of people that want action, i guess this isn't the movie for you. Plot was somewhat good, the acting was fair, and there were many good looking people (Which you always want in a romantic comedy), as well as most important of all it had a good and happy ending. -It's heart warming. Way better than i expect by the looks of the comments and rating. I absolutely have no idea why people wrote all these bad things about the movie. Why be so critic and not enjoy the movie as a whole and it's own self. Just sit back, enjoy the movie and stop being such a harsh critic, that it doesn't let you enjoy movies. But the only thing i don't understand is that, doesn't Tom have a girlfriend...?? Anyone want to answer to my question aha.Definitely will watch this again on my spare time, and in my opinion; it was a great movie.
bballerchic04 I cannot believe I've even wasted 45 minutes to watch what I hate. I don't mind predictable movies, but this is just ridiculously dumb.Liam's "accent" is terrible..terrible...terrible...so hard to watch this movie because that character sucks. Further, the Liam character is not cute and he looks the same in every movie he has been in!Jamie Pressly was the highlight of the movie and Hilary Duff is quite annoying. Another annoying thing was the way they portrayed the men in the movie as idiots falling all over her..yuck. ABC Family should be ashamed of themselves for such a bad movie!
manu-ste I never though of Hillary Duff as an Oscar nominee, but I was surprised that she would have stooped so low as to accept this role. This is a movie that tries to be funny, light-hearted and cute, and fails miserably. While I wasn't expecting anything deep, and in fact only watched it because I knew it would be a fluff-piece, I was appalled by the shallowness, and bad writing, and the overall implausibility of the story. Will someone tell me how Duff's character was even hired to work in a serious office environment, not to mentioned manage not to get fired on her first day, as she was obviously out of her depth. And then don't get me started on the love story aspect of the film. She barely has time to develop feelings for her boss because she's distracted by two other guys, and then we're supposed to believe that she somehow falls for him in the last five minutes of the movie. I'm disappointed because the actors weren't that bad, but the writer didn't give them anything to work with.
