Ploydsge just watch it!
Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

joj36 My expectations were mighty low on this biopic but unfortunately that never assists enjoyment. Who doesn't want to see the story of a talented actress' rise to fame and what she had to sacrifice to get there? Her mysterious death is initially pegged as a potential driving plot point but crumbles under the train-wreck that this movie becomes. Amanda Fuller who takes on the title role head wobbles her way through all 86 minutes. She is reminiscent of Murphy's Clueless character, complete with East coast twang just to remind us whose life story we are watching because there is no resemblance between the two actresses at all. What she has to work with isn't exactly keeping members of the Hollywood foreign press up at night reminiscing about its brilliance. This clichéd, overly biased piece made me wonder if it was penned by her own mother as it desperately tries to show Britt as a self confessed homebody who stays away from drugs and loves her mummy more than life itself. We get it. No one wants her remembered as a drug abusing, malnourished party girl that the press portrayed, but making her character one dimensional seems desperate to prove otherwise. Conforming to to the skinny blonde Hollywood wanted her to be isn't a ground breaking revelation in any actress's career so there was no need to treat it like it was.Hyper-reactive acting makes this piece more unrealistic than the poorly placed wigs most of the characters are forced to wear. Britt is shot unflatteringly and looks far from the real deal. The intelligence of viewers is insulted by avoiding any subtlety with the characters and the script. Murphy's creepy husband weakly confessing he's a bit of a sociopath is laughable and shows little faith of the screenwriter in how their material would be used. Repetitive information about Brittany's medical history is also unnecessary but drilled like the target audience average age is 5. (CPR on a conscious breathing man was the icing on the cake). The villain here are the press when they are seen to cause undue speculation and Brittany's eventual paranoia. They are seen as the bad guys because they over-dramatised, embellished and fabricated stories about Brittany throughout her career. Hypocritically that is exactly what this movie does
dustyoldbones Saw this film tonight on TV and decided to watch it because I am big Brittany Murphy fan. I watched the entire movie and was blown away. The actress looks and acts nothing like Brittany Murphy in anyway. I doubt if you could hire someone who could do justice to Brittany's magnetism on a small budget, but you could at least hire an actor with a similar face/body shape. My god, I shouldn't have to keep reminding myself that this is supposed to be Brittany Murphy on screen. The actor playing her husband was creepy as all hell, when he came on screen i though "okay, this is clearly the manipulative creep in the story" and it seemed like it was going that way. Nothing really came out of that though, so why hire an actor that the audience dislikes the entire time he is on screen? The intimate scenes were disturbing! This movie was made in 2014, and yet they leave her extremely suspicious death to 4-6 minutes of screen time? followed by a direct quote from Wikipedia as a epilogue? Rest in peace Brittany, I'm sorry they did this to your life story.
msquinn-12264 I have heard about this film for awhile and hesitated to watch it after hearing such bad reviews, but gave it a shot anyways. Like most, I was a Britney Murphy fan. She had this bubbly sweet personality, this contagious laugh and was able to play any role. Let's start with the casting shall we? Whomever is in charge of casting for roles, should be fired, like now. The girl chosen to play Britney didn't even resemble her in the slightest. I forgot through out the film that I was watching a bio pic because I couldn't see Britney at all. She sounded more Jersey than anything which Britney didn't and where was that great Britney laugh? The eggs were awful. And I feel they didn't give to much insight in her life. Just all the drama. They made it seem as if she was a D list actress who nobody knew, like she was struggling for roles, when she was in so many great films. Films I grew you loving to watch. How can one forget Riding in cars with boys? Or girl interrupted or Uptown girls so on so forth. They skipped years at a time and you couldn't catch up. If you have not yet seen it I don't recommend it.
yunks11 Before watching the movie I thought all the negative reviews were coming from disgruntled family, or super fans that wouldn't be happy with anything. Boy was I wrong! All the harsh comments were totally deserved. I won't stoop to the level of name calling, but I am empathetic toward those critics. It was a total casting catastrophe. A. Fuller was so far away from resembling Brittany Murphy that it wrecked the credibility of the rest of the movie. I would only recommend wasting the time to watch it if your curious to see how bad it is yourself. Don't don't don't take anything in the movie as factual, and pray that a true biopic is released as soon as possible. I don't know any of Britt's family or friends but I feel terrible that they have to see her defamed so horribly. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy
