Husband and wife, Will and Dawn, are in financial crisis after learning the job Will was counting on to salvage their financial future has disappeared in the midst of a market collapse. They set out to drive home on the winter highway back to their city, and in a moment of altruism, pick up siblings Lee and Cheryl, a pair of hitchhikers on their way to start a new life. In the midst of the night they nearly collide with an old man wandering on the snowy highway, hyperthermic and horrifically frostbitten. While searching for his ID they discover a wad of cash, a hand drawn map with GPS coordinates, and a single gold coin inside his coat. Will and Dawn reluctantly go along with Lee’s plan to report him to the police as a John Doe and pocket the money. In an attempt to save their financial struggles, all four venture off into the snowy wilderness in search of the buried gold.

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
JinRoz For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
jakyoung Probably one of the most ridiculous films i have seen in a while. The acting was at best poor ,the plot not well thought out. One of the characters supposedly had a knowledge of the outdoors and yet when faced with freezing to death proceeded to build what looked like 2 snow holes with bare hands and sticks (amazing),and informed his wife to light a candle, yes light a candle in the snow hole not maybe try and start a fire with the wood that was all around ,branches etc could have been used as kindling but no ,no attempt. Very badly thought out and written.
kynick2 Often my friends call me "snob" when it comes to movies...I guess I am. This movie makes the ABC movie of the week look like "Classics" Last year I had my students make short films. I gave them a month. More than a few were far superior to this film.1. Picking up 2 random folks on a highway is always a dangerous thing to do but I wondered...where did they come from? I mean, did they see a broken down car somewhere? Maybe it's a Canada thing..."sure hop in" 2. I get that they weren't aware of the terrain (the cliff) BUT I would have thought they'd at least prepare...you know, food, maybe use some of the money they got off the old man to buy GLOVES, HATS etc.3. The entire story was just ridic. The back story with the lost job. What was that? I just can't go on.
Sean Engbers Fun movie that brings you into the story of two different couples in need of money for different reasons. Loved the characters, the epic grand shots, and the use of outdoor landscapes. The characters did a great job of convincing me of their battle in their own minds and the cold that they felt. Was really fun to watch and very well done. I felt cold just watching the movie. Could really relate to the need for money and how it can drive you to making the choices we all make daily that affect relationships. We took our 13 year old son to the movie and he loved it as well. He was very engaged, related to the characters, and wants to see the movie again.
fellowpilgrim An entertaining, engaging trek into the cold of a Canadian winter - and the human heart. The life- and-death struggles of survival in the British Columbia mountains lie only a couple hours trek from a well-travelled highway, just as the possibility of moral compromise and personal betray lie only a handful of bad decisions away from day-to-day middle-class life.Aleks Paunovic is a standout in this strong cast: his threatening physical presence and shady back- story stand in queasy juxtaposition to an easy smile and ready spiritual bromides, with the audience (and his fellow travellers) never certain which will carry the day. A remarkable and ambitious first film from Canadian director Jason Goode.
