ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Tayloriona Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Leofwine_draca TRACERS is another boring, kid-friendly thriller set on the bustling streets of New York. It feels like the guys who made it watched PREMIUM RUSH and decided to make their own version of that film, replacing the bike action with parkour. I love parkour, enjoy seeing it done to perfection in the likes of DISTRICT 13 and CASINO ROYALE, but it's very ordinary here. The stunts are good but the shaking camerawork in between the stunts spoils it a little. The film also suffers from the casting of the incredibly wooden and one-dimensional Taylor Lautner as the supposedly charismatic lead, as he has no depth here whatsoever. The plot involves him with the least-imposing gangster villains ever, and an interminable narrative structure that mixes in romantic dialogue and weak heist scenes. It only gets going in the final action scene, and by then it's thankfully nearly over.
Floated2 Tracers starring Taylor Lautner responds to this issue by molding a parkour tale within a temperate indie budget, and using a recognizable star who is game to be his own stuntman but not expected to be a sturdy dramatic force. This sometimes-nifty action movie offers a fairly happy medium for a style of action choreography that deserves more exposure, especially given the potential proved here by competent film making.Delivering a typical plot about a New York story about Cam (Lautner), a city boy who turns to crime to pay off massive debts he has with a local parkour gang from trying to save his house before his widowed mother died, and in the process he finds a little friendship, and even some love (in Nikki, played by Marie Avgeropoulos). Director Benmayor accepts the importance of straight- faced tone to a parkour movie and aims to take these characters and situations as seriously as possible. The film is predictable but there are several great stunts and decent action for a B-movie such as this to entertain.
CJS They need to put a health warning on the DVD cover of this movie because I felt like I was going to vomit after 15 minutes. I couldn't take any more. I'm not a fan of shaky camera, but I can appreciate it if used appropriately, for example in found footage films or certain action scenes. However, in this movie the camera was constantly bouncing around, and I mean CONSTANTLY. In scenes in which two people are standing still and talking to each other, the camera still bounces and flicks around, as if you are getting the first person view of a bystander with ADHD! One minute the camera is aimed at someone's face, then suddenly - BAM! it whizzes down and your looking at the ground, then suddenly - BAM! it whizzes back up and your looking at a shaky face, then BAM! You get the point... Up down, left right, up down, left right, NEVER EVER STILL FOR A SINGLE SECOND. Was there a constant earthquake? Was the cameraman high on ice? If you want to throw up, go watch this movie.
Water Bender The story revolves around Cam, played by Taylor Lautner. He plays the bike messenger that has a debt to pay to this gang in Chinatown, so he gets into a shady group called Tracers to earn money. This movie was done very well, with most of the actors being in their early 20s. There were many conflicts that keeps you wondering what happens next. The conflicts revolve around both Cam and Nikki (female lead), both of which acted very well. have issues with the Tracers, the Tracer's leader, each other, gangs, and their own personal situation. Overall, the characters were developed well for Cam and Nikki, but as not much for the others. There is a lot of parker action throughout the movie, some criminal activity that keeps it exciting, with some love triangle drama on the side. The rivalries keep the story's plot so great. A must-see, especially for young adults who love action and thriller.
