SoTrumpBelieve Must See Movie...
Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
debbieonstjohn I really liked this movie and especially its content. To many, this is a sensitive topic. For some of my friends, it's reality. Some may not be able to see this as a good movie because of the reality. Heigel and the entire cast "fits" this movie and Im so happy to have it in my list of fave life changing monies!
lm4983 Apparently Katherine Heigl has attracted a bunch of people who don't like her for whatever reason and therefore don't like any movie she's in. I have always found her an appealing screen presence. This movie is about a lesbian coming out to her family and how they all react and come to terms with it. Jenny's family is portrayed as both very conventional and very oblivious. A bit hard for me to believe that with the exception of her brother, the thought that Jenny is lesbian never crossed any of their minds. This is not academy award material, but it is a good movie with a very good cast. The movie is, to use an overused phrase. "fair and balanced", showing the point of view of everyone in the family with none of them being either a villain or a saint.I would definitely recommend this movie.
Reno Rangan This is an awesome movie for families, maybe except orthodox families. It is a lesbian theme, but not a romance movie. A beautiful drama filled with some good humours. This is not about two women falling in love and their relationship complications, but the family of one of them who struggle to accept after knowing their daughter is a gay. The daughter wanted to marry her sweetheart and start a family. So how things shape up within the family, who lose, who gain and what happens at the end is the remaining. The title says it is a Jenny's wedding, but the wedding is a small part, the rest is all about Jenny's family. While portraying the family about how they're coping with the news, I liked how the film focused one at a time and their way of coming out of the frame they're in. Mostly it was the perspective of the women, because the writer was a woman, so she knew how to carve it. That's why the father's part slightly lacked the exhibition, nevertheless, that's the only male character that has to be so tough.Such a wonderful narration, totally an unexpected movie. Surely one of the underrated movie of the year. The cast was fantastic. Among all the characters, Alexis Bledel's role was disappointingly shorter. Anyway, she was not that important, but the rest of them had played their part exceptionally. Great dialogues, sometimes emotionally gets us. Is there any best gay themed film for families, I've not seen quite good as this one. I definitely recommend it.8/10
thewoodlandservices I have 2 main beefs with this movie. #1: based on the poster art, I expected this to be a romantic comedy. This expectation was bolstered by beef #2: it headlined Katherine Heigl, an actress (for me) known only for romantic comedies. This movie is not a romantic comedy, it is a surprisingly good drama and even a somewhat realistic one at that.Katherine Heigl does a credible job as a woman who has hidden her secret from her family most of her life. Tom Wilkinson is amazing as ever as the father who initially seems more bonded with his daughter than the rest of the family but during the story arc, has the harder time accepting certain truths. The wonderful Alexis Bledel is woefully underused, but in the context of the scope of the story is understood.Grace Gummer as the sister is incredibly believable. Her story could be a movie on its own (with a different poster artist!).Recommended! Watchable. Enjoy!
