BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
MartinHafer This review is ONLY intended for adults. My low score for this film is based on MY viewing and reflects how adults would enjoy the film. My daughter also saw it and liked it (mildly)--and she was clearly in the target audience. I wish I could give it a 3/6 reflecting BOTH scores. As an adult, Kenan and Kel's Good Burger skits on Nickelodeon never interested me and I always thought it was pretty dumb. Again, however, it WAS intended for kids! As for the film, it's a bit better than the TV show "Kenan and Kel" but this isn't saying a lot for older audiences. I can say, however, that it was nice to see Abe Vigoda--a veteran actor who practically everyone thinks is dead. He's about to turn 93 and although he might have looked dead since the 1970s, he's not! But talk about surreal seeing him with these two young actors! So, if you are forced to watch it with the kids, you'll have a few laughs, enjoy seeing Vigoda and it's relatively brainless but harmless fun.
Steve Pulaski If you were an early nineties baby, and watched Nickelodeon on a regular basis, it's no doubt you saw Good Burger at a young age and really liked it. It's a feel good film. Some people don't get it, and others don't like it. But in order to fully appreciate this film you have to know the humor of Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, and watch All That. I did both those things when I was younger, and I fell in love with Good Burger. Now I'm well into my teenage years, and Good Burger still holds up. If you didn't grow up in the time this was made this film will be dreadfully unfunny to you. Even someone who loves the two leads as much as I do can admit that. It's almost like trying to expose an impatient five year old to Felix the Cat. With new programs like Dinosaur Train and Spongebob Squarepants, it will likely only hold their attention for a very short amount of time. The story centers around a simple fast food place known as "Good Burger." Its main employee is sweet and simple Ed (Mitchell) who is dim-witted, slow, and ironic all in one. Another character named Dexter (Thompson) is forced to work at "Good Burger" to pay repairs after crashing his car. Ed and Dexter meet, they're not the best of friends, but they soon have to stick together when they see that a new burger joint is opening across the street called "Mondo Burger." Good Burger becomes increasingly slower in business and revenue, until Ed and Dexter go behind the scenes to figure out what is really behind Mondo Burger's business. This is nothing but a film for the kids. Or the people, now teenagers or adults, who grew up with the show. Good Burger was based off of a skit on the sketch-comedy series All That which, to put simplistically, is Nickelodeon's Saturday Night Live. The skits ran for about three to six minutes and showed off the dysfunctional working staff and the character Ed's antics. It was funny in the show, and it remains funny mostly throughout the film.Kenan and Kel went on to have a successful career until their Nickelodeon program, Kenan & Kel ended. They split up, went their separate ways, and very quietly release new films to the public. This is a time capsule not only for their career as a duo, but when Nickelodeon was making shows that were funny and fun to watch. Now, it's just a shame to see what it's succumb to.If this had just been another film, not boasting a skit from a Television series, not have Kenan and Kel, and just came out blindly from Nickelodeon, it would without a doubt be panned and not at all have the reputation it does now. Good Burger boasts good leads, a good story, and enough laughs to sustain its run time. It's a good time.Starring: Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Directed by: Brian Robbins.
studioAT Keenan and Kel were a big part of many peoples childhoods with their TV show and this great film that will long live in the memory of anyone who sees it. Sure it's not Oscar winning stuff but it is pure entertainment. The two are talented in their own right but act as a perfect almost Laurel and Hardy double act as they find themselves having to defend their small burger bar against a big chain corporation. While the plot is predictable the performances aren't and there are some truly laugh out loud moments.Although Keenan and Kel hold the movie together there are some nice guest appearances with Linda Cardellini being the stand out.Overall a really good family movie that leaves us only wanting to see more the dynamic duo.
kirk-246 Kenan and Kel are very similar to Harold and Kumar. The main difference is that Kenan and Kel are not potheads, but that's what they seem like in "Good Burger", a fun and enjoyable comedy about fast food.Kenan Thompson plays Dexter, a teenager who's been looking forward to summer vacation.Everything goes well until he gets into a car accident with his teacher. In order to pay the amount of money he owes, Dexter decides to get a job.He eventually gets a job at a fast food restaurant named Good Burger, which is mostly known for their burgers and their famous motto: "Welcome to Good Burger, home of the good burger.May I take your order?". Dexter eventually befriends a dim-witted but likable employee named Ed, played by Kel Mitchell. They then realize that they need to stop another establishment named Mondo Burger from stealing their business. What mostly makes "Good Burger" work as a comedy are the performances by Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.Kenan is a character with some funny one-liners and is always funny in his movies.Who could forget "Fat Albert" or "Snakes On A Plane".Then there's Kel Mitchell. His character may not be a genius, but his goofiness makes him very watchable.I must complain about the movies low rating.Seriously, a 4.9? What's not to like about "Good Burger"? It's a fun, funny, and entertaining movie that really should be given a break. At least Brian Robbins wasn't ashamed to film this movie.Trust me, this isn't a bad movie.Just don't watch it thinking that it'll be worse than dead cow meat, because it's not.
