Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Justina The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Ed-Shullivan Ahhhhh, it is so nice to just sit back, forget about what ever may be ailing you, and enter into an animated dreamland with the Dark Knight of Gotham. This is a series of well done short animated (anime') stories which are easy to follow, quite pleasant and most interestingly provide a different type of the Batman. The film opens up with three (3) skateboarders not only trying to one-up each other at their favorite skateboard park, but with their individual stories of how they met the anime' Batman. As each skateboarder tells their own story of what happened to them when they needed the Batman's help, each of their stories becomes more interactive and The Batman anime' is gradually introduced to us so that we know what to expect from the subsequent story lines. The animation is great, the short stories wonderfully written, these individual stories are not filled with longer than needed fight scenes (as in some films the CGI fight scenes are so long that I tend to walk away and see what is available in the fridge, and then I still have time for a bio break while some of these fight scenes drag on and on), and then no sooner does the short story end when we see our favorite animated hero tackle another short story villain.I really enjoyed Batman: Gotham Knight so I rated it an 8 out of 10 score. Great job!!!
TheFunkyBass This is a 6-story anthology movie directed and animated by different people.1) "Have I Got A Story For You": I caught this part of the movie a while back on the TV and my first reaction was "wtf is up with the animation?". The lip- sync was atrocious, like terribly bad. And the story made no sense. Some random kids were telling stories about Batman and just as the last one finished talking, Batman appears out of nowhere fighting a bad guy for the sake of the plot. And then one of the kids saves Batman's life????? 2) "Crossfire": This one focuses on two policemen who end up getting in the middle of a crime battle. Sounds dumb? It is. Because it's very convenient, like the previous one. The animation looks like cheap anime, but looks WAY better than the first one. Kevin Conroy sounded way off as Batman in this one, almost as if he was replaced by someone else. The only good aspect of the story is that the story centers around officer Ramirez and we get to see Batman through her eyes. This character is later used in The Dark Knight in the same year.3) "Field Test": We get to see Lucius Fox creating new technology for Batman. For some reason, Lucius looks really orange in some scenes. And this Batman sounds different too. And he looks really dumb... he has a huge bat-nose.4) "In Darkness Dwells": This one features Killer Croc and Scarecrow kidnapping a priest. Now this is a good one, this is what the whole movie should've been like. Story centered around Batman and showing his detective abilities. Simple, awesome, effective.5) "Working Through Pain": It's not clear if this is directly after the previous chapter, but it goes through flashbacks of Bruce's training. This one wasn't as good as the previous one, but it was very a interesting take on his lore.6) "Deadshot": Finally, this last chapter focuses on the titular sniper assassin and adversary of Batman. The animation in this one is top notch and by far the best. It's very detailed and polished. The plot is solid and very entertaining. In conclusion, this movie goes from horrible to great. Honestly they should've just cut the first half of the movie and release it as an episode on whatever Batman TV show was airing at the time... or something, I don't know.6/10
thebrandomania I had grown up watching the batman TV shows as a kid, to later watching all of the live action batman films. About a year and a half ago i delved into reading almost all of the famous batman comics. I'd been working my way through watching all of the DC Animated Universe films when i came across this one. What a catastrophe this is.The idea to make an animated film that would show Batman's life in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight was a good idea. This movie had so much potential. Then for some reason they decided to split the film into shorts, all done by different animation companies. All of these companies are awful. Trying to sit through the first short in which there is poor animation, and a story about skating kids dreaming about batman encounters for twenty minutes is torture. However you hope in your heart that it will get better... it does not. This film does not deserve to have 'Batman' in the title. A dull and boring movie with horrible animation makes for a major disappointment for a huge fan of Batman.
Angelus2 This is a collection of stories solely for the hardcore Batman fans, who are witness to different interpretations of the 'Bat-Man', the thing that hides in Gotham's shadows, hunts the criminals that plague the streets.I found the different art-works quite fascinating, from abstract to anime, from child-friendly to brutal. It's a brilliant take on the character with a bridge between Batman Begins and Dark Knight, there is also an appearance from 'Deadshot' and 'Scarecrow', who make it all worth while.I loved the build up to 'Arkham Asylum' as well as Batman's entrance as he sweeps down to save a victim with the words 'I WILL!'
