ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
kellyq12 Why did I watch this movie? I don't like gore and the basic description of this movie makes it clear that it's about a guy who's in surgery and overhears a plot to kill him (he's in a surgical locked in state where he can hear but can't speak/move)! I told myself they wouldn't show much of the actual cutting. WARNING TO OTHERS: They showed a lot of the cutting of flesh. But let's get past that. It was a decent thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat in a good way once they were out of the surgery room. Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba both give strong dramatic performances.
grantss Clay Beresford is wealthy, young and in love. He also needs a new heart. After a spur-of-the-moment wedding to his fiancée, Sam, he undergoes heart transplant, with the chief surgeon his friend, Dr Jack Harper. However, the anesthetic has a strange effect on him, paralyzing him but not putting him to sleep. The surgical team are not aware of this and continue with the operation. They also reveal that they intend to murder him...Reasonably novel idea - man tries to fight off would-be murderers while paralyzed and undergoing heart transplant surgery - but poorly developed. Plot is unengaging and ridiculously far-fetched. It is also very padded - many scenes that are clearly just filler - and random.Direction doesn't help, adding to the random mess with badly thought-out dream sequences and out-of-body experiences. To crown it all, performances are so-so, bordering on irritating.Despite the shortness of the movie, not worth your time.
cmovies-99674 PROS: AWAKE had a lot of great qualities to it, but acting would be the trademark for its good qualities. What I liked about the acting was how the characters interacted as the film progressed, this allowed the movie to be dynamic. Each event or issue that occurred had a cause and effect in the meaning of acting, which is talented. The other thing that I really liked was the ending. The last few minutes of the film were by far the best. It provoked the most emotion, and it was the most engaging part of the film. In a mystery movie you really rely on the resolution of the film to be the catch all. The ending should be memorable, with or without the answer, and it should also be able to connect to the rest of the film, this movie did both.CONS: The biggest flaw in this movie would have to be the build up of tension. This film dragged on and on. Although you needed to follow along to enjoy the movie, you also weren't at the edge of your seat while you were following along. There were scenes that made you cringe, some made you scream, and some made your heart beat race, but the proportion from boring scenes to engaging ones was unbalanced.www.chorror.com
brendon faife There is never a dull moment through out the entire movie... When we first meet the various characters in the movie we quickly form first impressions of them...a young couple in love, a dominant mother not wanting to let go of her son, a friend you can trust, and then halfway through realize that oh boy...were we wrong or what?! I had goosebumps when the protagonists heart is cut open and he could still feel and hear the doctors!!! A part of me hopes that this never happens to someone i love!!! Love makes the world go around. And yes, money too :( The story centers around a business tycoon ,Clayton, who has to undergo a heart transplant. But due "anesthetic awareness" he is awake and can feel and hear the doctors during the surgery. But what is more painful....feeling or hearing? Watch it!!
