The only reason this is not a 10 out of 10 is because sometimes the music performed by the characters is a bit much and does not add to the episode. The haters who leave these reviews need to relax. Crying about the show not being realistic is ridiculous. Its a damn television show, go sit in the park if you want to watch reality. "Reality" TV isn't even realistic. The casting was fantastic. Even though some characters get on my last nerve each one is played perfectly. I am obsessed with Cookie Lyon. Although she is out of her mind, it is fantastic to see a strong powerful woman who does nothing but fight for what she wants, even if it means burning everything around her. Although I said the amount of music incorporated can be a bit much it is a great sound track. The first song the middle son Jamal does, even though the origin of the lyrics it has caused a frenzy in these reviews, I had to download it immediately. This show is addicting and the newer seasons are just as good as the first. I think we can all agree that if you do not like a show and are up in arms over the context then do not watch it. Do not "give it a few more episodes" there is enough TV shows on Netflix and Hulu to find something you will enjoy.

This show is everything, I don't understand why people dislike it so much. There's A LOT of drama, yes, and even if you're not a drama lover, once you fall in love with the show you will handle and get it. This show is about family, about love, about music! It's about how this pretty dysfunctional family can work through all that it's bad and still be strong as one! At the end of the day you won't see a happy family for sure but I bet Luscious or Cookie or Hakeem, Andre or Jamal will put their life in danger in a heart beat just to save one another in a situation of life or death, no matter how bad things are between them. We've seen it at the end of season 2, so we sure will see more of it! And that's the beauty of the show.The way that Cookie fights for her family to stay together while Luscious is always tearing them apart. They just never give up on each other.Every character has a good story line and a big dept to its persona! The cast couldn't be more perfect, I mean, Terrence and Taraji are the soul of this show. The rest of the cast is brilliant too, no shade of a doubt.The music is beyond great and even greater if you follow the story of the show because you will be even more connected to the lyrics.I'm so excited to finally see how they're going to tell Luscious and Cookie's story as kids. Been waiting on that for a long time.Of course there is so much allusion to the world of music and how industry works,can u name me one show that is totally accurate with reality? It doesn't really matter because it is just a show. Anyways, I love it so much and for me, it was like a breath of fresh air when I discovered it. And it still is.To the Empire! * air punch *

What makes empire so good is that no TV show/movie like it exists. The concept of the show is so raw and so unique. The show might contain some clichés in it but that doesn't prevent it from having such a strong plot. There is no limit as to the money spent on the sets and costume or showing the lavish lifestyle of the characters and so it automatically has a rich feel to it. Season 2 is so much better than Season 1 and my advice is that everyone should must watch it. Also the acting is superb by all the characters and the songs are really amazing !

This series is black version of Gossip girl witch is OK if the idea was to make TV show for teenagers where most of plot is made by somebody walking by the door or sitting accidental next to somebody and hearing what are they saying, or by somebody rushing in to office/building/club/wedding/restaurant/red carpet/... and saying something that nobody can't know, despite Lions being most "famous family in the world" and with 10-15 bodyguards always around them. Actors are great and they are all singing like angels, but who ever is writing this story is more focused on spending money that has earned than to sit and think about what is writing and does it makes sense and logic. Idea is great, but please if you need something to happen, think harder, don't just write first thing that comes to your mind, not caring does it makes any logical sense or not. That is mine opinion, thanks for reading.
