AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Lumsdal Good , But It Is Overrated By Some
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
the-samy I think the hatred might be coming from the fact that some people may have expected a lot of this movie and were deceived... I watched with an open eye and pretty much like it. Nice fights and choregraphy and lovers of the chinese atmosphere will indubitially like it I think this film isn't that bad but isn't that good either but could deserve better ratings...
kerrydunn How did this even get made ?!?! It is a sloppy attempt to retell a story that has been told dozens of times, only this time they throw a couple of white "Crusaders" into Imperial China, where of course everyone speaks perfect English (except the "English" actors) !Christensen literally delivers every single line in the exact same deadpan voice (and expression). Cage's accent is so bad it'd almost be funny if it wasn't so bad.I guess they blew most of their budget on the salaries of Cage and Christensen and forgot to save some for things like extras and CGI. When I saw the mighty army of "Black Guards" (yeah, it's that lame) there must have been like, 20 of them ! Not sure if they stole Gene Simmons "Kiss" wig for Cage to wear or maybe it was "Sho'nuff's" wig from The Last Dragon. It's one of those movies that you are really, really glad you didn't pay money to see !
Sorrel Fiat I expected to see a low-budget Netflix B-movie and I saw a low-budget Netflix B-movie. That considered, it wasn't that bad. Nicholas Cage and the two youngest characters were terrible as far as acting goes, but everyone else did fine and Hayden Christensen really carried the movie. The fight scenes were good, sufficient blood was shed, the costuming and landscapes were very well done, and it was entertaining, if not memorable. The plot brought down the movie because it was so blatantly obvious from the beginning that at times we forgot there even was one, and the camera work was ehh, but the film was, overall, on the better side of B-movies. This would be a great movie to watch while multi- tasking.
stitchesaresore ... that Nicolas Cage are on screen are the greatest minutes of my entire life. From his disapproval of Jacob at the beginning to his heroic sacrifice, Cage puts his all into this role. Cage's staggering drunkenness rivals that of Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. If there is a God in Heaven, I pray we get a prequel focused on what happened to Cage's character between and when Jacob found him again. Unfortunately, I can only give this film nine stars as Cage's role is not prominent enough. Perhaps one day we will get a prequel of sorts, focused on Cage's character's journey from the wise and stalwart warrior he is at the beginning of the film to the drunk and jaded man he had become when Jacob relocated him.
