Synopsis

The story of an unassuming American family drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed, the younger son of the dictator of a war-torn nation, ends a self-imposed 20-year exile to return to his homeland, accompanied by his American wife and children, for his nephew's wedding. Barry’s reluctant homecoming leads to a dramatic clash of cultures as he is thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth.

Lawbolisted Powerful
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
lorfalconswan I've got two words that say it all: Crap ending. Don't bother.
ofirassaf First, I have a confession to make. I've never been a big fan of the show. Sure, I've watched it for the past three years, some parts I've enjoyed and some not, but never a big fan. As someone who lives in the Middle East, as an Israeli, up until the end I thought the show doesn't really reflects the situation in my neighbor countries. I thought it is a delicate, shallow version of reality, destined for western eyes with all its western terms and western subjects. I thought this show doesn't reflect the real political and religious conflicts and issues in Muslim states.Right up to the last season. Then, when western Barry got a little taste of power, the show has made a little change, and the western Doctor became as tyrant as his father and brother before him. The last scenes shows us the different political camps of this complicated conflict portrayed throughout the series. We see Basam Al-Fayid powerless and desperate, full of hate and marching for war at all costs, Leila and her coalition trying to make something right, Fauzi Nadal and Daliyah "the Mother of the revolution" claiming for peace via Twitter. And we see also Al-Rashid and his chalifate. We see all the various sides of the conflict, on a last try of the creator to teach us how delicate is the situation in the Middle East. While we were sitting down and waiting for a good Hollywoody end, while we were waiting for Barry to admit his mistakes and regret his sins, to make peace; all we got is just a little framed sad picture of the harsh reality. It is not the full picture, and it's not Hollywood cheese, but it's enough. On the other side, in one of his last steps, the creator tries to show us not all hope was lost; USA ambassador tells Daliyah that she hasn't lost to no one. But I disagree. I think she has lost. I think everybody in Abuddin lost, except for one.Ihab Al-Rashid. Ihab Al-Rashid has won this war mid-season already. He wanted war, he wanted hate, and he got it. He is the only character that gets its wish to come true by the end, because his wish was the easiest to achieve. This is the closest to reality this show has ever gotten to. And it is a sad massage about our world. But it's true, And it's enough.
pati-54567 Your seriously canceling Tyrant??? What Freaking Idiot made that decision??? The Show is Great, The Actors are Great! What did you have another Cartoon stupid show to put on??? You people who make these decisions are just So Bloody Dumb! AMAZING! The Story line is interesting, and the people are interesting, I just don't get how you people think.. There are so few shows that are good anymore its like cartoons are all they put on. I hope you can reconsider taking this off the air. It is one of the best shows on TV!I have always enjoyed FX, but i just don't understand why a show can go 3 seasons an then you just cut it off. There are some really stupid shows on TV and this is not one of them.
Emma Sabri I don't necessarily agree with the political views but the human psychology aspect and the development of the plot are amazing. Kudos to the creators of the series. The acting, the decor and costumes, the cast and the screen writing are gorgeous. The show is getting better and better by every episode.Although I'm yearning for fast solution, I don't want it to end. I hope they will stay on air for a long time cause otherwise I'm gonna miss it. I strongly recommend the show and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. it is a journey to the depths of a human soul.
