Synopsis

When Nick Garrett was 18, he packed up his truck and said goodbye for a summer road trip that turned into 10 years of being away. He has since become a literary celebrity in New York, living off the fame and fortune of his best-selling novel and movie, based on his hometown friends. To the literary world, Nick defined a generation, but to his hometown, he betrayed them by sharing secrets. Now, without inspiration for a new book, Nick returns to his hometown to find that feelings toward him have changed.

Reviews

Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
mdfluvsjesus Just started watching 2 season series last night, on Hulu, and I'm almost done. Why was this show ever canceled? That was a huge mistake!
fluffchop I really enjoyed this all too brief series. If it says drama in the TV guide I'll pass. Just not interested. Can't be bothered, you get the idea. Well this is just a really great set of characters possibly you could say guy based (I'm a guy BTW), but really the women are well represented too. What they are is very "real" forgive the quotes, but they drink beers at a regular bar, there's not a café latte in sight and it deals with a whole host of emotion. Not in a lovely dovey touchy feely way but in a kind of real and honest and confronting up front in your face yet personal way. I dunno, as I say I'm not into D-rama and this isn't a soapy drama type thing at all. It's just real life in this town for a group of people. You actually care less what happens next and as I said at the start. It was far to short a series and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Well done cast, crew and lets hold hope that it can come back in the future. Lots of shows, well some, eg family guy and that space one with bender had a hiatus.
treska-1 I really like this show and love the time slot after Grey's. My only complaint is that the show tries to be too "deep". Especially the Aubrey character. Not many people talk like the characters and use the metaphors that these people use. Maybe they are trying to make some of the characters seem sophisticated or worldly, but they end up seeming fake. I think that once the writers find their groove and figure out the makings of each character, this will hopefully ease up. I like the whole Hannah / Nick relationship and never understood what she would see in "Big Cat". Even his kids were obnoxious!! I hope this show lasts. I'd like to see how it develops and I look forward to it each Thursday night!
walnutgrovecrafts To me, there are many shows and series out there that may start off rather slow and boring. I wasn't crazy about the 1st episode, because I felt it was dragging on and on. However, I tivo'd the other episodes, have watched them, and have LOVED them! It's getting good folks, let's give it a chance to rectify itself! In my opinion, the reviews and negativity you read and watch on TV about things are just so premature. We can say a movie is crap, because it's a movie, as in one, 2 hour time frame, and that's it. Series or TV shows, however, there are more than one. So if the first 1, maybe even 2 or 3 stink, there's still time for recovery! I personally think that given the chance, it will turn out to be a great show that should stick around for a while to come.....I'm behind you October Road!
