Nonureva Really Surprised!
SincereFinest disgusting, overrated, pointless
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
neosildrake How could they do something like this? I watched the pilot and was shocked. There's next to nothing that reminds someone of Flash Gordon besides the name. OK, they tried to take a different approach and make something original out of it. Unfortunately That doesn't work with something like Flash Gordon. It's like making a Spiderman series and making Peter Parker blonde 2 meter football jock. What they did is ... horrible. Everything about this series is way below average, the actors, the story, the outfits and even the special effects, which remind me of power rangers special effects instead of something the Sci-Fi channel should come up with. To me this series is one point above awful and only because I know of at least one or two series that are even worse than this (won't tell though).
John I just finished watching the last 4 episodes of this series and thought everything came together pretty well. See, I'm not a purist like most of the commenters on this board, so I didn't know what to expect. Taking their budget into account, everything was as well done as could be expected. Sure, they didn't go all out with effects, but when that happens series tend to be incredibly short-lived (BSG). When shortcuts are taken and they don't adversely affect the storyline much, it's fine that there isn't a lot of CG and everything is more of a standard variety. That said, I enjoyed the 1st season & I hope there are more seasons to come.
ian-bonham-1 Oh Dear,I'm left almost lost for words. Really, I'm going to struggle. OK, to try to give you some idea, if you liked Tim Burton's interpretation of 'Batman', but then sank into despair when 'Batman & Robin' arrived? If you Love 'Spawn' as a Comic, but the film had you wanting to eat your feet? Oh this goes lower on the scale.I think the best thing I can start ripping up about, is that a comic book character has a fan base. A character that has survived this long has a HUGE fan base, and every now and again Fan's can accept re-invention, if it's done well. Batman fan's will remember "Knightfall" for example or "Return of the Dark Knight". Brilliant. This re-invention of Flash is truly terrible. I'm no fan of Americans in general (no offense), but I thought Flash was an American Football Player? Not a marathon runner? Ming is a Bald Headed Goatee'd Evil Dude, not someone that looks like he didn't make the grade for "Stargate Atlantis". The Chief Scientist slides around like a Dalek, but with a human torso, just like Davros (Dr Who). The acting is wooden, and really painful. I've honestly yet to find one character I enjoy watching. Actually, I've given up now. I'm up to Ep5, and it doesn't improve. What is it? Stargate? Sliders? Smallville? It's not Flash Gordon, it's a painful torture of a greatly Loved Hero. All I could do is dig out my Disc of the Movie. Sorry, the film is camp, it's Loud, it's got Queen on the soundtrack, it's got the Chief Scout of the UK (Mr Peter Duncan), it's got the irrepressible Max Von Sydow as Ming. It's proper Flash tho, not this awful mess we are seeing at the moment. Don't pay for it. Don't even waste bandwidth on BitTorrent. It's truly terrible.Bon
mav128 This was simply a great show. I glanced through some of the many comments which savage this show, and frankly, I don't really get it. This program has a typical sci fi premise, with the twist of adding a slick, insidious dictator along the lines of a self righteous Ayn Rand villain. The special effects and action are a bit cheesy, but the show play it tongue in cheek ("laser whip, really?"). The plot and character interaction steadily improves throughout the show and Flash's allies on Mongo are portrayed as a lesser of two evils instead of being self righteous freedom fighters. Each of the individual cantons has a unique look and culture. The plot steadily builds and the final five episodes are amazing: inevitable, yet soundly executed. Man, I really have no ides why people did not love this show.
