Synopsis

The pirate adventures of Captain Flint and his men twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic “Treasure Island.” Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver. Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day – a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality.

ChanBot i must have seen a different film!!
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Calum Hutton It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
jonmurdock This is a binge-righteous series. I for one appreciate intrigue, violence, swearing, and nudity in a series to make it somewhat believable for me to watch. This review is for the entire four seasons. After a couple episodes, the players fall into place. I feel good acting good scenery, good sound and now comes the PLOT. It takes a few episodes to get into it. Once you are hooked, there is no turning back. FABULOUS STUFF. But then later in the series you wonder how this guy can turn from a wimp to a hard-guy after a season. Or this joker turned into a legend after an episode. Or this nice guy turns into an acehole after an episode. It's too fast like that. But, it's great and I loved every minute of it up until the last episode where what you might imagine, happens. It's like: OK We Gotta Wrap This Up. TOTALLY BINGE-WORTHY. 8 POINTS
neilson-jack I can't believe I had never heard of this show before I started watching it, a bit of a mix between Game of Thrones and Pirates of the Caribbean. Whilst the action scenes are great, what really made me love this show is the strong characters and how well they develop them, especially the first and second season where you are still working out character motives and personalities. The strong character development pays off big time later on as you are able to understand exactly who the characters are and why they choose to do their actions whilst still maintaining mystery to get you to ask questions. The main question I had surrounding the show was who is actually the villain in the show? Is there even a villain or does it just come down to perspective? Aside from that the story keeps you going, has amazing settings and great acting (particularly impressed by Toby Stephens as - Captain Flint, Zach McGowan as - Charles Vane, and Luke Arnold as - John Silver).
vadsang This show could have been absolutely fantastic. And actually some of it is... especially seasons 2 and 3. But then they stall alot with conversations that have no real importance or meaning, and dont really seem to add anything to the characters. At the start, this is intriguing, to get a sense of the world, but as the series progress, I really started losing patience with all these stalling, undramatic conversations. And once we reach season 4, they really seem to struggle to prolong the drama, and characters start making decisions, which do not seem logical to their siturations and temper, in order to keep the drama going. The show becomes increasingly uninteresting and the drama lacks flow. Too bad, for a show with alot of potential.
Markuszharp If you are expecting a high quality show, with high production and good action this is something to recommend. Everything that happens in the show you are drawn too, the building for every character is amazing and the plot is really well done. Sometimes it could lose it's red thread (last season mostly) where I lost myself a little bit. Otherwise it is one of the best series I have seen. The show really nailed the whole pirates genre, on how they might have been during their time and things they had to do to make it. To put it lightly i would say it could be "Game of Thrones" the pirate version, haha.I love thing show and I would recommend in to everyone who really love adventure, drama and personalization in characters in a show.
