Spoonatects Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
kbritchford this has got to be one of the best films i've seen in a LONG time. it's not a horror film so don't watch and expect to be hiding behind the sofa. it take you on a fascinating ride about the down spiral of a group of kids. Drew Fuller played the Psycho, brilliantly, a huge change from his role of Chris the neurotic whitelighter from charmed. I especially like the way the story is told, working from the end backwards, leaving you to try work out what happened. i really recommend you watch this! 10 out of 10, i have NEVER given a film full marks i tend to be over critical. it's defintly a low budget film but i think that's what makes it great!there's no bug effects you have to actually act, not stare at pretty colours, or nurse a very fake injury!
bobthejeep This movie was never meant to be a horror flick. If anything, I'd categorize this movie in the same genre as Catch Me If You Can. After reading through a couple of the reviews here at the IMDb, I felt the need to submit my own review. This movie is NOT for people who want a good old fashioned vampire movie. Just because the title has 'vampire' in it, doesn't mean it needs to be the typical horror movie.Rather, this movie is based on a true story. Granted, just like in Catch Me If You Can, some things from real life had to have been changed. But the general plot and the basic motivations of the characters remain true. This entire movie is an in-depth look at the human psyche and the troubled lives of a couple teenagers. I find it fascinating from a philosophical and psychological viewpoint. If you liked the movies Memento and Catch Me, then this movie is for you.Granted, there are some things about the movie that I felt needed to be explained and I would have liked to see more reason for the actions of the main characters. It would have been nice to see why the kids acted the way they acted--what kind of parents and home life did that have to make them so confused and lost? But I think the movie still makes it and is definitely worth seeing. It's well directed and well acted--and I am glad I sat down and watched it all the way through.Even if it wasn't a scary vampire movie.
hallandrewe I just rented this movie last night,And In my opinion Monkeys on typewriters could have done a MUCH better job. I am from Eustis Florida the place the murders took place, I actually knew Rod Ferrel very well before he moved to Kentucky. My first problem with the movie is, it wasn't even filmed anywhere near Eustis. Also Rod Ferrel was not a handsome short haired guy, he had long hair and in my opinion is very ugly, also he was like 10 times crazier than they made him seem on the movie, i mean the guy actually thought he was a Vampire how crazy is that. None of the actors in the movie where any good, and the story left out a lot of details, it seemed to me that they didn't do very good research about the crimes and rushed making it, I think the movie could have been much better and I'm VERY disappointed and would like my money back.
heroinchic i've always been highly interested in true crime, especially cases concerning vampires and teens who kill. so before i ever knew of a film being made about rod and his crew of merry followers i had read almost everything there was to read about the case. so it was natural that i wanted the film to be as accurate as possible. so it is no surprise that i was bitterly disappointed. for one thing ROD FERRELL HAD LONG HAIR. casting drew fuller with his trendy messy short hair style was just PLAIN WRONG. if i was the casting director and i saw drew fuller come in to audition i would have been like "GET OUUUUUUUUT, ROD HAD LONG HAIR YOU STUPID LITTLE MUPPET, UNLESS YOU CAN GROW YOUR HAIR ABOUT 16 INCHES LONGER IN THE NEXT 5 SECONDS YOU'VE GOT NO CHANCE!!!!!". it actually made me angry. no disrespect to the actors in the film, but you got it all horribly wrong. all i can say that was good about it was that the girls were extremely pretty looking all Gothic. so to conclude... 3/10. it is reasonably watchable if you are a goth freak of some kind and care little about the actual case. if you know about the case then you'll be pretty bitter as was i
