GazerRise Fantastic!
Salubfoto It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
bmtp02 Totally loved this movie. Excellent acting all around and the directing was great. Not only is DB Sweeney an incredible actor but he is a very talented writer and Director as well. I recommend this movie to all movie goers. A real gem especially for a low budget film. Great job DB. Mr Sweeney is also a super nice guy to his fans. The premise of this film is a great story and most guys should love this movie. It was really great to see DB reunite with Moira Kelly. They have great chemistry on screen. They were so good together in THE CUTTING EDGE. You cant go wrong in a movie when you have the awesome John C. McGinley and Ed Harris. In my opinion two of the greatest actors of all time.
madmarkey Anyone in their late 30s to late 40s can identify with the characters in this movie. At one time, the protagonists were at the top of their high school food chain- the athlete, the rocker, and the valedictorian, but faced with mid-life, these three friends must confront failed relationships and unfulfilled dreams. While the technical aspects of the film (lighting and sound) scream low budget, the character development and acting are engaging. The banter between the three friends regarding "sport vs activity", "scrudge", and "Labor Day picnic" gives credence to the longevity of their friendship. John McGinley, supported by Bruce Springstein's "When You're Alone" conveys more with two lines than most actors can with a page. Having grown up on the East Coast making annual trips to SC and FL, I enjoyed the regionalism. Any one miss the old South of the Border signs? The soundtrack certainly added to the film- especially if you are familiar with the lyrics. The Dylan, Springstein, and Dire Straits these guys listened to in their youth eventually gave way to the more upbeat sounds of DelAmitri and Bowling for Soup (which I found humorous given 1985 is probably what the band's most recognizable song). Favorable treatment of women as well. I would recommend this film.
MoviesMusicAndMore This is a film that was a first time effort by actor, director, writer D.B. Sweeney. The actors in the film are a well rounded cast. The music is well suited for the film. The film gives you a taste of reality, comedy, and introspection. I grew up knowing someone like the main character so this movie had the ability to really hit home for me. I feel that this being his first director, writer, actor project that D.B. Sweeney did great. I look forward to seeing more productions from him. In my estimation he is an under utilized talent from Hollywood. One of his real assets in film is to suspend disbelief with the ability to portray the everyman that allows you to personally identify with his character. This talent makes any film more enjoyable. There is nothing worse than watching a film where you can't relate to the main character. His everyman quality is a unique talent that not all actors possess. This talent makes an actor diverse in their ability to take a role and make it their own. D.B. Sweeney did a great job on this film. Give it a look.
brianskeet A sort of working class Big Chill without the faff and pretension, this is a terrific ensemble with sterling performances from the ever reliable Sweeney (who also proves himself to be a very fine director) and McGinley, who is so different (and more tender) than his "Scrubs" persona.I think it is interesting that a lot of the user comments come from military groups. This is a film that appeals to men, i guess and not just 'guys'. These guys - as they reach forties - are genuinely and touchingly rendered.I saw this a little time back, and it still hangs in the memory like a good beer. A very good beer.Very highly recommended.
