Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

"The Ron Clark Story" is a movie which is based on the true story life of Ron Clark and the work that he did.Matthew Perry makes one of his best interpretations if not the best as a school teacher who relocates to one of the toughest classrooms in the country in Inner Harlem Elementary School. This classroom is the most disadvantaged class which exist in whole of the school and that was something that Ron Clark considered as challenge to succeed.I liked this movie very much because it shows us what a teacher has to do to educate some children who are really tough. It is also shows us what a teacher has to endure to succeed to his work and how difficult this is it.

Matthew Perry has been officially labeled as that wimpy chandler guy from friends, after you watch this movie you would think twice.I watched this movie because i love Matthew perry's performance in friends so i was delighted to see that he is in a movie that was, what I heard, good so i happened to flip through the channels and saw this movie was coming up.I watched this movie with an open mind and after you had watched this movie you will lie on your bed as you fall a sleep thinking about this movie the entire night and to think that it is a true story.Matthew Perry's performance was beautiful a well as the storyline and message,I weeped half the time I watched this movie and I think the children in this movie deserve much more credit for their performance because some of them were actually good.The only thing that I want them to improve is the cinematography should definitely be improved as it effects the whole experience of the movie, as well as some scenes were not so important and should be cut out (no offense to the editors off course).Overaall I think you should watch this movie, it will really keep you thinking of all the things a person can achieve, and the movie is a very good experience. Good move Perry.P.S. Hands down too the real Ron Clark.

This is the true story of Ron Clark, a teacher in rural North Carolina, who had a dream to teach in the toughest area of New York City. The dream wasn't just for himself, it was for that indifferent young boys and girls, against great odds, could become successful in life if only they could believe it was possible. Not only were the odds great against any of his students going beyond elementary school, the odds seemed even greater against Ron Clark making it through his first year of teaching in the toughest school in Harlem. But he had a dream and he was 'naive' enough and idealistic enough to believe he could reach that goal. While optimism and belief are essential, it is also helpful to have talent and Ron Clark is a very gifted and creative teacher. He was willing to experiment with various ways to reach this rebellious kids who wanted nothing to do with school or him. If making a fool of himself trying to 'double dutch' jump rope would get their attention, then so be it. The kids were more important than his ego. His relationships with parents should be an example for any teacher who really wants to make a difference with their students. This is one of those truly inspirational films and stories that comes along once in a great while. Not only has he helped students reach their potential but he has written a best selling book of classroom rules called THE ESSENTIAL 55 for teachers. We may not all have the same talents as Ron Clark but we can all be inspired to use what we have to the best of our ability and for the benefit of others. Put this at the top of the list. Unfortunately, it's OOP and somewhat expensive to purchase but readily available as a rental.

Much of what Ron Clark professes is missing from this movie if you dare to compare the movie with what he says when he lectures. I guess one might say this is "loosely" based on a true story.As a new teacher of high school kids, I can't say for certain whether clowning around with 5th graders really makes them like learning, but I'm certain that when they get to high school and they can't read or do simple math, no amount of humor can overcome the attitude that years of social promotion creates. Hats off to any teacher that get these kids started in learning.As far as the movie version, Matthew Perry does not capture the manic energy of the real Ron Clark; he's far too adult and restrained. Clark is a whirlwind; a person you can't quite believe is real. Clark literally sweeps people along with his personal energy while talking a mile a minute. Perry just doesn't get it. His scenes with children are unbelievable, because they are too easily won over. Now if he'd only known karate, he'd of had them at "hello" or so says Hollywood.I gave this film a 5, because its message that all children can learn is inspirational. A far better recent film is "Stand and Deliver"(1988), but the reason I'm a teacher is because of movies like "Good Morning, Miss Dove"(1955) and "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" (1939).
