Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
TheLittleSongbird Love animation and have really enjoyed to loved many superhero films, animated and live-action. Justice League has always interested me too. Of the DC animated films, there are some good ones out there as well as some disappointments. 'Batman: Bad Blood' is one of the bigger disappointments and towards the weaker half of the DC animated films. To me, it is not as bad as has been made out, there are some good qualities here, but agree with a lot of the criticisms made and feel it could have been much better. There was actually a good idea on paper here, this good idea just on the most part didn't make it on screen and this is a big shame.Starting with the good things, the best thing about 'Batman: Bad Blood' is the animation. There are some very nice detailed backgrounds, the characters are designed well and the colours are dynamic and atmospheric. The music is both haunting and rousing, a good fit for the film's mood. Alfred is awesome as one can hope, just wish there was more, and Dick and Nightwing are also handled well. The voice acting for the heroes is pretty decent, from especially Sean Maher, Stuart Allan and James Garrett. Jason O'Mara is credible as Batman, but has little to do. Morena Maccarin actually does a quite good job as Talia Al Ghul all things considered, that the character is disappointingly written does not rest at her door in terms of blame, it's the writers' fault entirely. Some of the action is well animated and has its thrills. However, 'Batman: Bad Blood' does have a lot against it. Namely that it has too many characters (most of them handled in a way that underwhelms), trying to include too many subplots of very variable quality, crammed into a far too short running time, meaning that the film . As said, few of the characters are satisfactorily handled. For a title that indicates that it's a Batman film, even when one is reading the film's summary, there is far too little of Batman and far too much of the significantly less interesting Batwoman, who is not an interesting or well explored character at all and is instead one-dimensional, clichéd and very difficult to like let alone engage with. Saw absolutely no point to the inclusion of Batwing, whose character suffers from all the problems with Batwoman except the screen time issue. A much better job could have been done with the villains, devoid of much menace or complexity on the whole with very vague motivations. The exception is the suitably mysterious Heretic, but needed more to do. Meanwhile Talia Al Ghul is particularly wronged here.Writing on the most part takes simplicity to the extreme and becomes simplistic and feels stilted as well. So many cringe-worthy lines here. The main story was potentially interesting but wasn't gritty enough or focused on enough, even getting lost amidst the attempts at developing the new characters that come off unsuccessfully. It is agreed that the male villains' voice acting is too similar, mainly because at least three of them are in multiple roles that they all sound too samey in, John Di Maggio a particular example and usually Di Maggio is very good at voicing villains. While Steve Blum is a very talented voice actor and has often excelled in voicing villains, he's over-parted. The action on the most part lacks tension, and the far too easy, abrupt and insulting dispatching of some of the villains does them no justice. In conclusion, disappointing but not unwatchable. 4/10 Bethany Cox
Shawn Campbell First off let me say I'm a huge fan of Super Hero stuff. As far as animated movies go DC has definitely been killing it ,all the justice leagues were awesome , the superman's were super-good and until recently the batman's also have been great, until recently because for whatever reason this is the third batman movie featuring Bruce's biological son Damien who is super-lame and non existent in canon , don't get me wrong I generally love a good "else world" movie, its usually cool to see our favorite hero's and villains in a "what if" scenario but Batman the dad sucks and Damien(his son) is such a brat you just want to see him get beat up or at least punched in the mouth, I could barely make it through the film to the obvious ending. Terrible movie to hopefully finish a terrible trilogy. Batman's kid harrumph , Cmon DC get your $hit together. We expect better.
Argemaluco I had my doubts, but I now have to recognize that the animated movies based on the "New 52" Universe of DC Comics ended up being better than I expected. Unlike the "classic" Animated Universe, these films don't adapt specific comics or narrative arcs (like All-Star Superman, Batman: Year One or Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox did); instead of that, they take fragments from diverse stories in order to integrate dynamic tales which respect their printed origin while taking advantage of the animated medium in order to establish their own identity. In other words, Batman: Bad Blood is made for the comic readers, but at the same time, it contributes to the formation of an animated continuity which will probably not be limited by those comics. However, I'm starting to notice the negative part of that strategy. I liked Batman: Bad Blood, but I found it too ambitious for its short running time. In barely 72 minutes (including the end credits!), the film plays with too many characters, and he introduces not one, or two, but three new members of the "Bat-family". There's simply not enough time to develop in detail the parade of characters, events and sub-plots, and even though many of them are interesting, they are reduced to their minimum expression, something which dilutes their emotional impact and denies the scale of their ideas. I'm not going to mention any spoilers, so I will just say that Batman: Bad Blood would have worked better as a simple introduction to Batwoman (real identity: Katherine Kane), one of the most controversial additions to the "Bat-family" in the comics, who undoubtedly deserved a movie for herself. I wasn't a fan of Batwoman when she made her debut in 2006, but as the time went by, I liked the treatment this character received by other writers in more modern stories pretty much; that's why it was so frustrating to see her relegated to the background whenever Batman: Bad Blood changes its road (which happens many times), and it doesn't adequately conclude what it starts. Fortunately, there are enough positive elements to make Batman: Bad Blood worthy of a moderate recommendation. The quality of the animation is "normal" for the standards of Warner Bros., but the choreography of the fights and action sequences are above average. And the actors make a very good voice work, highlighting Jason O'Mara, Stuart Allan, Morena Baccarin, Yvonne Strahovski, Ernie Hudson and Gaius Charles. In conclusion, Batman: Bad Blood adequately concludes the trilogy initiated by Son of Batman and Batman Vs. Robin, and at the same time, it inspires interesting tangents to explore in future films; I just wish it was half an hour longer, or that it handled less sub-plots in order to dedicate more time to the ones which genuinely deserved it. But it made me have a good time, and I now look forward to Batman: The Killing Joke. Believe it or not, I'm expecting it with more enthusiasm than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I hope they get Mark Hamill to bring his voice to the Joker.
mattmarklinger A rating of 2/10 is generous because I am a huge fan of Batman and nearly every series of comic books.. And the DC animated movies have largely been incredible and inspiring because comic book story lines can finally be produced in a way Hollywood cant and wont ever be able to mimic in some ways but after Flashpoint Paradox things have gone down hill probably largely due to DC now taking advantage of its gained fan-base.. This story was basically dribble and had me laughing at moments while attempting to remain tranquil as long as possible.. Batwoman could have more interesting other than adding scenes about her personal sexuality, yeah sure I'd be a lesbian too if I was an angry drunk chick and had to live in Gotham who apparently walks down an alley to clearly no where only to luckily be saved by Batman.. I am not familiar with much of her origin but she is not the worst character in this by far.Nightwing was almost interesting too but really not sure what back-story they went with as it was only mentioned by himself in addressing Alfred saying "it always starts with death." Could've introduced Tim Drake whom hasn't been in much lately or another bat- disciple instead. Biggest moment was getting his a** whooped for putting on the bat-suit then complaining about it while Bruce was gone, be lucky all Batman did was break your arm after that pathetic speech to save your life, I would've shot you half way through and blamed it on the mind control if I was Batman..Jk I wouldn't use a gun either.Damian was still the same angry kid but used to be a real contender for the next Robin til he was killed off in the new 52 and batman incorporated story lines, really sad and not sure why Batman needed the pain of his only biological son dying..Wtf were they thinking, I digress though. BUT the writers decided not to even go down that road as they had the chance introducing the short-lived Heretic whom gets blown away by Talia after trying to get her approval and love as well as a soul for himself..just made me feel bad for him, which is more empathy than most other characters at all. That scene where Damian actually tries to give a f*** about Justice not Vengeance was so forced and ridiculous as it doesn't even matter because he couldn't save sh** and doesn't care himself as he looks blankly at the rope and says "Damn.." the writers were probably like "well at least we made it look like he gave a crap because We didn't." Not even going to address Batwing really..clearly against anything to do with helping his father or Wayne enterprise..until he finds all the cool batsh** in the vault and pretty much declares himself part of the family for just showing up with little training at all in a bat-suit like "Heeey guys, mind if I join? Need a black guy to make this more diverse? No? Cool.." I just laughed as he flew by Lucius' window for approval. It's funny how loner Batman has disappeared in the last couple movies and suddenly wants family, like where did that come from? Batman was barely in it and could've had a more comic book accurate plot that didn't go against how invulnerable Batman's mind really is, he is f****** Batman and mastered immunity to mind control and is at peak mental ability during some amazing story lines in the comic books. The fight scenes were nothing, most of the villains ended up just falling off cliffs and in the most ridiculous form of killing, the "I didn't technically kill you by not saving you so Im still a good guy, have fun with that fall.." even though it is totally killing if you throw someone off a f****** cliff. Seriously, its like Hollywood ALWAYS making the main character somehow morally superior by going through all that revenge/vengeance just to hold back at the end like they are actually going to understand how killing isn't going to make things better BUT the bad guy always makes a move that gives them the bs justification in killing them/not saving them (same thing) like a white cop profiling an innocent black kid on the street in those "I had no choice he went for my gun.." moments. And that scene with Alfred kicking ass like his bat-suit is his arthritis or something.. lol and he just happens to punch the guy into the perfect spot on the wall somehow just vaporizing madhatters head was hilarious, then the defense tower just randomly crashing into buildings but luckily doesn't hit Wayne Enterprise.. Seriously, Batwing shouldve just been crushed too somehow pretending like he actually was stopping a gigantic floating tower from crashing with his suits propulsion..ridiculous.I have every single animated superhero movie and non-animated as well, but you are an idiot if you think this was even a decent story, but probably great for little kids as they keep getting more g-rated each movie.. Not a good movie if you are a fan of DC animated movies or Batman. The only thing that could make it better is to go into it with the knowledge that it is a joke and maybe a few joints too.
