Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
puuoor I think every musician would love this genre. These movies are a big help improving music history and are the most lovely genre for those who are real lover of historical music not a hot and a commercial music.
Dale Haufrect "The Devil's Violinist" is a 2013 Foreign film and it is currently available on NetFlix Instant Download Streaming. The director is Bernard Rose. Bernard Rose is the writer as well. The cast includes David Garrett as Niccolo Paganini, Jared Harris, Joely Richardson, Christian McKay, Veronica Ferres, Helmut Berger, Olivia d'Abo, Andrea Deck, Thomas Anton, Peter R. Bishop, Peter Bosch, Ben Cura, David Godden, Stephen Hastings, Franziska Huber, Ian Hughes, Tim Jefferis, Elizabeth Kinnear, Onal Koc, Fanny Krausz, Makhare Alexander Ninidze, Kristian Portz, Oskar Ricketts, Ajia Sowinski, Andrew Tienan and Leopold Josef Paul Berger. The story revolves around the 18th century virtuoso violinist, Niccolo Paganini and his life is portrayed as a gambling, drug using playboy. I have no idea about the truthfulness of the picture, but I gave it a 9 star rating for the beautiful musical interludes. Dale Haufrect
Victor Stapelberg We just saw this movie. I am a Designer and Artist to the core. What no one said here till now, is how drop dead gorgeous and yes maybe a bit "plastic" the director turned David Garrett in this movie. And made the best of Joely Richardson. And have you "seen on you tube " Nicole Scherzinger singing the aria. And even the story maybe a tad on the "too obvious" side but it done in a real very clever way and one is dragged at moment between asking one self is it play or a new filmed version like all the "Shakespeare" have been turned into..The lights and visions are conveyed with real quality. It made me dig deeper for several hours discovering very good music and plenty of entertainment and that is what I want from my movies. The costumes are plentiful and the decor detailed and every hairdresser should have wanted to style the David's gorgeous head of curls that look so very stunning in dark. It could make a way more sexy add for a leading shampoo brand that all these boring muses shaking their manes. Really ladies and gents this is a movie for relaxing and visually enjoying with a twist of love and passion and money dealing that Artist will associate with.
Jesse Boland This is what misery of a lost soul and a deeper loss of the heart would sound like. We are given a feast for our ears, set in a very clean Victorian era world. The Devil went down to someplace, and dug up our Paganini, a Mozart type in a similar world just a few decades on or so. This movie is no Amadeus, there is no expansive epic story that digs deeply into the souls of any of the characters in this movie, in fact things are all very straight forward, and there is only one little mystery left up to you, and even that is not too easy to believe. I Enjoyed the music, and the settings of this movie, however small, and closed in all of the sets were. There is some really nice moments of tension that is built up during the more intense Violin playing, and I recommend this movie for those, the characters are all acted fantastically, by a wonderfully diverse, and experienced cast. However that does not save the story which is really predictable, and mostly hollow. If you like musicals, you will enjoy this, and there is a nice look to everything so I have to give the production team a solid nod for making the most of what they had.
