cmovies-99674 PROS: The best attribute that the movie has was it's ability to have amazing actors play difficult roles. In many horrors you get to see peoples true emotions when they are about to die, but you never get a zoomed in looked on what they look like; only a brief overview. THE CALL really dives into and analyzes the rawness of these emotions, and uses them as a platform to propel the other parts of the film, such as the build up of tension. The actors were able to showcase this quality in a way that I would say most others couldn't. Which was helped a lot, because the build up of tension relied heavily on the connections and emotions made previous in the film. These connections were clear and provocative.CONS: A mistake that could so vividly be seen was the amount of plot holes in the story. There were a bunch of times where I asked how or why that could even happen, and that frustrated me because it couldn't happen. The movie itself was very thrilling, but there was tons of things that left big question marks in my head after the movie ended. Oh, I also want there to be a sequel!www.chorror.com
muhammedamelgammal The previews for this movie did not make it seem like it was going to be as good as it turned out to be. It was interesting to see how this story would play out considering the trailers made it seem like the entire movie takes place in the trunk of a car. From the moment the movie started, it instantly jumped into the suspenseful story. It starts by showing the police operator's work as it was taking the first victim's call. It was a horrific scene and outcome, but it set the standard for the rest of the movie. It introduced the predator Michael Foster, played by Michael Eklund. Michael Foster had a sick obsession with kidnapping and killing blonde haired teen girls. He was calculated and disturbing. But he was also a bit careless. After he had kidnapped Casey Welson, played by Abigail Breslin, he simply threw her into the trunk of his stolen vehicle and then he did not notice all the commotion she was causing while trapped in the trunk. What boggled me the most was the fact that she was on the phone with the police for over an hour, and it was not heard at all. She was talking to the police operator Jordan Turner, played by Halle Berry; it was not the usual side of police that one expects to see in a movie. The whole time, Jordan Turner was trying to help Casey Welson escape captivity. It was a frantic situation for both. The ending was great. I do not want to ruin it by saying what happened, but I will say it was a case of poetic justice for the predator.
barrisambaris I must say I was impressed by this movie. It was like a reality movie into the daily life of a call operator. Halle Berry is an emotional call operator who faults one of the laws of the occupation- to be emotionally detached. When she gets a call from a distraught girl who was later killed, she beats herself up for it. Six months later, she had to help another girl who was kidnapped from a mall escape from the trunk of the car where she'd been kept. I enjoyed this movie. The first part was quite realistic and touching. Abigail and Halle did their part well. But then came the unrealistic second part. I get that Halle is emotional and feels connected to her callers, but not to the extent of driving all the way to the crime scene. It was Just convenient that she finds the trap door not the police. And why didn't she call the police? These loops in the movie made the second part less enjoyable. But I'll definitely recommend this movie.
