Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Borserie it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
Ella-May O'Brien Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
mcanallenrachel I'd like to see this kind of directing in all Black films, for Malcom D Lee shows us that not only can he make us laugh hysterically, as in "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins", ... but he can also make us cry as I did and I'm sure, a vast majority of viewers have & will. The music score in this film rates A+ and the cast members selected for this sequel could not be a more perfect selection. Terrance Howard's comedy, wit, and sarcasm is an added plus towards helping us, the viewers, return from a state of tears, back to a state of laughter. I rate this film 5 of 5 stars. lets see more. tyler is creating stuff we ant relate tooa nd this was refreshing i know i watche dit late but i am here now and it was a great nod to black films
vincentlynch-moonoi For once a description on many sites that fits -- a tragicomedy. Yes, there is certainly humor here, but comedy is not what this film is about. That may have disappointed some viewers, but let's see: Taye Diggs and his film-wife Sanaa Lathan are sinking into debt because his recent books haven't sold. She is pregnant and during a previous pregnancy they lost the baby...and may again -- breech birth this time around. Meanwhile, he is contemplating writing a bio of his best friend, a pro-football player, but they have been estranged for some time.Morris Chestnut is the remarkably successful football player, and he and his wife (Monica Calhoun) have several beautiful children, but she is dying of cancer and he can't face it, even with his religion.Harold Perrineau is the director of a private school and his necessary fundraising has hit a major bump -- an online video shows his wife may have been a prostitute while in college.Terrence Howard plays a sleaze ball, but a true friend. Melissa De Sousa plays a reality television star who is about as obnoxious as one can get. Nia Long and Eddie Cibrian are good as a mixed couple.Nope...not much comedy is those subplots, yet there is humor here. But a stronger theme as Calhoun has all the old friends together for several days at Christmas. Will she live through the holiday? Will her husband break a record on the football field? Will the school get funded? The book written and financial disaster averted? Will the two least appealing characters better their lives and relationships? Well, it's a mixed bag at the end of the film. Good news / bad news. This is a particularly strong film with great performances from all involved. It's difficult for me to find something here to criticize.Highly recommended, though sometimes predictable...and it's a tear jerker. Just right to remember that even during the holidays all is not peace and joy...but often people are doing the very best they can.
leonblackwood Review: I wasn't really feeling this film. I found it pretty boring and the storyline was really weak. I didn't see the original movie in this franchise so I was a bit lost throughout the movie. There are some emotional scenes and the all sat cast did make the film feel believable, but I didn't find it that interesting. All of the individual storyline's didn't really seem to go anywhere, but on the plus side, I did find Terence Howard quite funny. It's basically what it says on the tin, without any frills, so if your into your urban comedies then you will enjoy this film. Personally, I did lose interest after a while, because it takes ages for anything to happen, so I woke be watching it again in a hurry. Disappointing!Round-Up: This movie done extremely well at the box office, so there is still a big audience for urban movies which is great for black cinema. Over the years, I've got fed up with these type of movies because there all the same. It's good to see the original cast come together for the sequel, but for a single person, it lacked originality and spark. The director cleverly left it open for a third instalment in this series, but I will be in two minds to watch it.Budget: $17million Worldwide a Gross: $72millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there urban dramas about a group of friends getting together for a holiday. 3/10
lqstallworth Was waiting a long time to see if another part would be coming. It has different emotions(happiness, sadness, laughter) this was a good movie. We had a good time eating, drinking, and joking with family and friends at the studio movie grill. The casting had a great chemistry and you could see the enjoyment. This movie could have it home for some as it relates to somethings that could have happen in reality. The only thing I didn't like was the use of real Greek signs. If you don't belong in reality don't do it for fake. Can't wait to see what is in store for the next part. Live laugh and learn. Don't wait so long on the next one.
