Based on the journal entries of Rachel Joy Scott, the first student killed in the Columbine High School shooting in 1999. She was the first person Harris and Klebold saw in their desire to kill as many people as possible, not because she was religious, as this movie will have you believe.

Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
ethal-10611 Why do mass shootings happen? Mental illness? Easy access to firearms for children? Poor life lessons from parents and authority figures? NOPE! According to this movie, they happen because people just don't love Jesus enough. This movie cleverly starts by exploiting actual footage of the Columbine shooting because when you start at rock bottom, there's nowhere to go but up! If you take away anything from this experience, just remember that it's ok to exploit real world tragedies as long as it's for Jesus!
nichschwabee-26659 Having been in high school myself in 1999 & around that same time also became a born again Christian I was open to being rieceptive to what non-religious people might roll their eyes at. But... this... actually painful to watch. The overly dramatic "i'm so persecuted, life is so so hard & no one could ever understand how bad I've got it" got old real fast. Rachel could have been much more relatable & sympathetic had she not been portrayed (hopefully inaccurately) as a self absorbed over the top angsty one-dimensional person. It actually made me feel LESS sympathetic towards her & was just plain annoying. If that was me being portrayed as such I'd be embarrassed honestly. Making someone come across as a saint (despite her "sins" that she always seems to feel entirely too guilty for ) doesn't envoke even the slightest form of interest or feeling from me. Was quite disappointing & cliche. Cmon it's not like she was nailed to a cross & tormented to death here plus she wasn't even the only one who was supposedly killed based on her religion or even the only person according to witnesses who was asked about their faith. I mean i'm sure she was a sweetheart & truly only wanted to do good with her life & lead others to the Lord but this wasn't shown in the best light. If i ever give it another watch it'll be for the laughs from all the melodrama.
joshuabush-28688 I Loved this movie! I teared up to the point where I could not keep my eyes on the screen. I recommend this movie to anyone! 10/10
bruce-67922 As one who was very close to Rachel Scott's family, and intimately involved in the Columbine event, I can say unequivocally that there are few films in this decade that will move you more, and perhaps, inspire and change your life for the better as I'm Not Ashamed. I was honored to give a eulogy at her funeral and was thrilled to witness the powerful influence Rachel's young life gave to the entire world. In a time when people doubt the truth of the Bible, and believers battle with insecurity about the price they must pay to be a faithful witness to Christ's gospel, Rachel raised up a bright torch of courage and boldness expressed in a heart that loved people intensely and sincerely. One of the most refreshing things about this film is the way it portrayed Rachel honestly. She struggled with the same temptations and fears as everyone else. I'm so glad the producers didn't try to hide her faults and struggles, which made the amazing grace of God in her life shine all the brighter. In truth, Rachel was US in so many ways, and through her journey as a young Christian, we can all draw strength, encouragement, and inspiration. Another thing I admire about this film is the way it reveals the raw evil and vicious hatred people are capable of. The killers were well- acted and captured something of the dark spiritual influences that are seeking to reduce humans to a fragmented, brutish world of narcissism.Theology teaches us that there is an "inner werewolf" within each of us due to the fall of Adam, and of our desperate need for God to give us a new nature through the new birth found only in the grace of Christ. Whether you love God or not, this film will open your eyes to a higher purpose and reality. Rachel will become a part of you, and perhaps you too will find the grace she did to not only find peace with God, but to conquer fear and live her life in the light of God's love.
