Finding Galina doesn't take long, and Jacques must wrap up the mission by returning Galina and the contraband to his superiors by train. Things seem to be going smoothly as Jacques and Galina board the train posing as a couple, but soon all hell breaks loose.

SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Catangro After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
The Grand Master Derailed is another poor movie that did no favours to Van Damme's career that had been heading downhill since the late 1990's. The entire story is derivative, the action is not enjoyable, the stunts are rubbish, and the acting is the worst of it all.In a nutshell, Jean Claude Van Damme is NATO operative Jacques Kristoff who has been tasked to track down Galina Konstantin played by Laura Harring (Mulholland Drive), who has stolen an extremely valuable and dangerous top-secret cargo. Kristoff manages to find Galina and in order to complete his mission he must return Galina and the stolen cargo to his superiors via train. The stolen cargo turns out to be vials of SP-43, a biological weapon. Along with Kristoff and Galina, for some unknown reason Kristoff's two children are traveling with him on the train as well. Why you ask? Don't bother racking your head asking why.A group of terrorists led by Mason Cole played by Tomas Arana (Gladiator) hijack the train and have released the virus, infecting the passengers on the train. It's no surprise that it is up to Kristoff to single handedly take on the terrorists and save the passengers including his family. Derailed seemed like a combination of Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995) and Outbreak (1995) and its no wonder why the entire movie felt so derivative yet it was done poorly. Everything was just bad about it.I'd ask for a refund but it would be futile.Certainly one to forget for Jean Claude Van Damme.1/10.
viennashade Okay, I watched this movie just to see a motorcycle riding on top of a train, and I'm reviewing it only to say that J-C Van D did an impressive job of acting in the couple of scenes right after he loses his son. Other than that, the acting is second-rate, to be kind (and that includes the woman who plays his wife).I enjoy a movie mainly for plot and clever dialogue. This had none of that, but if action is your thing and acting is not important to you, you might enjoy the ride. The plot deals with biological weapons. Once again, the thugs' cronies have to be out of their minds to give their loyalty and trust. Does money really make you that stupid? These guys never worry that they will not be given the antidote to the germs.Typically, Van Damme is lured back into the spy business for an important job, and he is not convincing to his wife nor the audience why he "just has to." Everything else was just that typical as well.But...I stayed for the whole ride, and didn't end up angry over wasting 90 minutes of my life (but maybe that was just the mood I was in). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but Van Damme fans, and all of them surely will have seen it.
Comeuppance Reviews Jacques Kristoff (Van Damme) is a family man with a wife, a son and a daughter. He is given a mission by his superiors to track down a mysterious woman named Galina Konstantin (Harring). As it turns out, Galina is hiding a deadly bio-weapon - a mutated form of smallpox enhanced with other, newer pathogens. This is discovered while Jacques is escorting Galina on a train from Bratislava to Munich. Things really get complicated when a gang of terrorists headed by Mason Cole (Arana) hijack the train and attempt to steal the smallpox. In the ensuing confusion, a vial is broken and it goes into the ventilation system of the train, making a lot of people sick. Not the least of which is Jacques' family, who surprised him by showing up on the train. Can Jacques save his family, stop the bio-terror from spreading, combat the terrorists, convince his wife he's not cheating on her with Galina, and save the train from getting DERAILED? Unfortunately, Derailed is stupid, junky, and is just plain filler in the career of Van Damme. Sadly, despite the presence of Van Damme, this movie isn't really much different from any other Nu-Image or Millennium production. It has loathsome CGI, including CGI sparks, and is edited from probably countless other sources (which would explain why certain things may seem familiar if you've seen Direct Contact, 2009). Speaking of editing, there are a lot of dumb, unnecessary editing effects that call attention to the cruddiness of this production, instead of covering it up, which we assume was the original intention.Basically this movie is a ripoff/mishmash of movies such as Die Hard (1988), Speed (1994), The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974), and even Strategic Command (1997). But the most obvious "influence" is surely Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995). Clearly messing with perfection, the filmmakers must have watched that and said, "the only thing that would make this better is if Van Damme was in it and not Seagal!" And while Derailed doesn't add much new to the formula, it does have a cool scene where Van Damme rides a motorbike on top of the speeding train. But even this movie highlight didn't live up to its potential.Stunt coordinator Mike Kirton, who also worked with Van Damme on The Quest (1996), probably wished he was back working on Heat (1986) and Malone (1987) with Burt Reynolds in the good old days. Also featuring a guy who looks exactly like Joe Don Baker as the stereotypical Texan, and the baddies in red berets and fatigues that are more common in Nu-Image movies than Star Wars stormtroopers, we can't forget the main title rap song, which is catchy and it seems like the uncredited rappers must have watched the movie to formulate their lyrics. I wonder if they found it challenging to fulfill their mandate to write a rap about a movie that has more obvious miniatures than most kids' train sets.Derailed is not a standout moment in the storied Van Damme career. For more insanity, please visit: comeuppancereviews.com
disdressed12 what a mess this thing is.in my opinion,it's very bad, even for A Jean Claude Van Damme Movie.it's boring, silly, filled with bad acting, bad dialogue, you name it.even the story is lame.van Damme has never been accused of being Olivier, but man,he stoops to a new acting(if you can call it that)low here.who new the title would be so appropriate.this thing goes off the tracks from the get go and doesn't recover.i feel confident in saying this is the worst(by far)Van Damme movie i have witnessed.as a movie it's not good.as a train wreck-it's still not worth watching.i would not recommend at all.but that's just me.for me,Derailed is a 1/10.
