Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Suman Roberson It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
Aiden Melton The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Caleb Zero This movie started out great. An awesome stunt scene, and some great Arnie acting. I liked the husband and wife dynamic in the beginning too. I think thats something you don't regularly get in an Arnie movie. The problem is, once Arnold starts making his way into his mission, the story gets really boring. Sure there are some good moments in the story, and there is some great stunt work, and explosions, but I didn't relate to Arnie's character, once he started to turn heel. The bit that really perplexed me was to fix the gangster problem they're having, Arnie just kills them all, instead of gathering evidence and arresting the big guys. I love a good nonsensical action movie, where killing a bunch of guys trumps reason, but these guys didn't do anything to Arnie. He just snapped. They didn't hurt his wife, they didn't threaten him in any way, he just snapped. Only then did they realise he was a "good guy".I think it could have been a good movie, and for the stunt work alone, its worth a watch, but over all, it was kind've a sh*tty movie.
bowmanblue Throughout the eighties Arnold Schwarzenegger reigned supreme, but most people remember his films for Terminator, Predator and Commando. 'Raw Deal' often gets missed off the list of his movies. It's kind of understandable; when you compare it to the affore-mentioned classics, it does seem a little subdued.Yes, Arnie breaks a lot of bad-guys' bones along the way, as he goes from smalltown Sheriff to undercover gang syndicate member, but it never seems to have the required action that fans were synonymous with during this stage of his career. You could almost call it a 'thriller,' only that would definitely be miss-selling it. It's more of a crime drama which has had action scenes added into it as a result of having Arnie fronting the bill and naturally wanting to play to his strengths.People may criticise the 'big man' for his lack of acting talent. I always thought he does what he does well and am normally quite happy with his performance. However, he does seem to struggle a bit here and there during 'Raw Deal,' leaving some of his lines coming out as a bit awkward. At least it does have a decent (if not as long as usual) action sequence near the end which is pretty fun where Arnie slays countless henchmen while driving round a gravel-pit listening to the Rolling Stones. If you're a fan of Arnie in general, you'll probably enjoy Raw Deal. Again, if you just like your crime/action films, you may also get something out of it. However, if you're just a casual fan of the genre/actor then it may come across as a bit forgettable, especially in the wake of Arnie's other hits of the day.Just don't ask Arnie's (on-screen) wife to bake you a cake.
SnoopyStyle Mark Kaminski (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a small town sheriff. His wife Amy is tired of small town life after 5 years. Mark had roughed up a bad guy and Marvin Baxter threatened to prosecute him unless he resigned from the FBI. Baxter is now after mobster Luigi Patrovita and his muscle Paulo Rocca. Mark's old boss Harry Shannon lost his son to Patrovita's men when they hit a witness under their protection. There is a mole in the FBI. Harry wants to send Mark undercover into Patrovita's organization without anybody else's knowledge and holding out the possibility of reinstatement. Mark fakes his death and takes on a new identity as he bulldoze the organization.I don't know why he has to blow up an oil facility to fake his death. The explosion does look cool. I also don't know what kind of cop could simply gun down suspected bad guys for no reason. So this movie has no subtlety and can't be taken realistically. Director John Irvin has stuffed a lot of action and explosions to cover up the non-sense. Schwarzenegger shows himself to be more than just a sword swinger or a killing machine. He stretches his acting to show a little bit of range which he puts to better use in his other movies. It's not mindless action but the story is not written well enough to be taken seriously.
LeonLouisRicci By the Numbers and Void of Style, this Arnold Vehicle is just that. A Rather Badly Acted Movie that Moves from One Scene to Another with No Regard for Interest or Logic. It is just a Matter of a Bunch of Scenes that are there for there Own Amusement and have Little Regard for the Rest of the Proceedings. The Love Interest that Arnold Engages in with a Beautiful Woman is All Over the Map before its Over and One can Only Guess at any given Time where it Stands. But that's not why People Watch an Arnold Action Movie. So there are a lot of Things Blowing Up and a lot of Bodies Piled Up.The Supporting Cast of these Cartoon Thugs are all there to be Killed by Our Hero before its Over and the Only Intrigue is in What Order. The Two Major Shootouts are so Uninterestingly Filmed that it Looks Like They just Wanted to get it Over With. Line 'em up and Mow 'em down. The Muscled Star does His Thing but He is put in a Package that doesn't even have Pretty Wrapping. It's All Eighties Glitz and so Unappealing that Today it Looks Ten Times Worse than it did when it was Made and it Looked Pretty Bad even then.
