Noutions Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
isaacja-53489 It was a "meh" movie and now I'm just adding more words.
adi_2002 And our little hero even looks like Daphne. And what does she do? Solve mysteries. As Nancy. And it seems it is very good, making police job in her hometown. Is a girl with a high IQ, incredibly smart, a little genius. She moves with her father in another city. Staying in a house where lived an old actress who was missing for then to be found dead and the cause is still not known. Then she goes to school where it is not seen very well, her classmates make fun of her because of old-fashioned clothes that she wears. Nancy can not help but find out what happened to Delhi and from some old movies slowly finds all sorts of clues that help find out who is the killer. Surprising was the appearance of Bruce Willis, even if only for 30 seconds and I liked when she got introduced to Nancy used his real name. The film has some flaws. Shows us how she went to school but just one day? Then he went not. I do not think it says how old is our detective so can drive a car and parade through traffic. I can not say I liked this movie but i didn't hate it either. It is to see if you want to remember the childhood, if you want to get into the minds of children. But honestly better I looked at "Bolt".
mattywalker I rented this for my 8 year old daughter several times, but never watched it with her (dad watched it with her instead). This 3rd time around, I was pulled in by the cool songs I was hearing in the movie. Turns out, the film is really well done. Directing, casting, production design--all nicely done. They've modernized Nancy and the story just a bit, but have kept it very sweet. This Nancy is a bit zanier than the Nancy I remember (the one from the first 50 or so novels was more serious), but she still comes off as intelligent, compassionate and an all around likable character. Ned is darling and Nany's young sidekick is hilarious. I agree with a previous reviewer who felt that some of the Los Angeles sets could have been a bit better, but I have to say I really loved the accuracy of the Old World mansion with it's style of the time (the 70's) popping up in parts of the house. Anyway, all in all it was a really fun movie!
Murli There's another viewer who boasted that they'd read all the original books and how Emma roberts was perfect as Nancy Drew etc etc. Well, I too have read all the original stories and I couldn't disagree more. Those stories were very good and I loved Nancy Drew but I always imagined her to be older (say 18/19), more fun and more natural. Instead we get a characters who's 14/15 years old goody two shoes know it all who's somehow more intelligent at crime solving than the police...well that was the case in the stories so I guess I can't really gripe about that fact.I'm sure that the plot was good but Nancy Drew was completely miscast not to mention that the characters were made to be a lot younger so it's kind of hard to take them seriously in this story. emma roberts was a poor choice (she's definitely not a good actress) and on her way to becoming the next anne hathaway (another lame actress in her own right).I really hope that there isn't another nancy drew movie if the same cast and director are used again. It was an utter chore to watch this movie and there was absolutely nothing else interesting on TV at the time (it was either this or watch the HGTV on how to make the perfect drywall).
