Brainsbell The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Kirpianuscus A comedy. and, in strange manner, a beautiful lesson about choices, appearences and decisions. about America, love and the need to be yourself. a fairy tale, off course. but who has the gift to propose a smart perspective about reality. and gives humor, a splendid work of Eddie Murphy and James Earl Jones and the spirit of clash between different perspectives about life in a not formal style.
Imdbidia This is one of my favorite comedies of all times. My brothers and I used to watch it over and over again, and knew some of the dialogues by heart.Silly, outrageous with a pinch of romance, this movie is just fun. An African prince is tired of being a prince and wants to live a normal life to experience that, wants to experience love and not to be handed everything. He lives everything behind, takes a few millions (ha!) and arrives into a working class NY neighborhood in his fancy car. He gets a job as a cleaner in a second rate burger place, he fancies the owner's daughter, but she already has a suitor, who is cooler than he is. Said like this, is sounds uninteresting, but all the gags, situations, dialogues and acting make this work in inexplicable ways.Eddie Murphy is great in his different roles in the film. Arsenio Hall, cheeky and hilarious, and the perfect counterbalance to Eddie. Earl Jones regal as always, Amos is very sweet, and Eriq La Salle is just totally hateable in his role of Mr shiny curls. These days movie studios spend millions on digital flare, but they lack something basic: imagination, a good sense of humour, and the right actors to make magic happen out of the simplest of scripts.
creta-79965 I rate this 11/10 ... why?It is flawless... the storyline is a joke in itself yet so likable! The movie has many fall of your sofa with laughter scenes in it... this is better than many of the highly rated comedies on IMDb... trust me this an excellent movie... well directed... well scripted... well executed...Eddie Murphy is in his prime for this movie... top class acting along with Arsenio Hall whose facial expressions in the movie are perfect for the scenes he is in.This is my favourite Eddie Murphy movie of all time... As a kid I watched this over 20 times... total classic!
yestesfa Eddie Murphy stars as the Prince of Zamunda. Prince Hakeem is very wealthy. He refuses to marry the bride that his father chose for him, so he decides to go to Queens, New York and find his queen. He arrives in Queens with his best friend/servant and seeks a queen. They try to blend in, so no one knows that he is royalty. He works to act just like the other people in New York and even gets a job at a fast food restaurant. The movie is hilarious all the way through and romantic at the same time.It is interesting to watch Prince Hakeem search for his queen and deal with environments that he is not used to. The prince has to leave his life of luxury behind and learn how to live like people with normal lives. Eddie Murphy does a great job in the film and is sure to cause the audience to laugh.
