On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling". Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts.

NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
SincereFinest disgusting, overrated, pointless
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
MartinHafer Normally, I hate to see movies twice. Perhaps it's small part of the reason I've reviewed so many different movies for IMDb. Regardless, I hate repetition and after seeing "Blood: The Last Vampire" I realized I'd seen it all before--it was called "Blade"!! Yes, the plots are nearly identical--too identical to make it worth seeing both. And, if you insist on seeing a film about a half-breed vampire killer, please see "Blade" instead!!Like "Blade", the story is about a vampire killer who is part vampire themselves. However, instead of the cool Wesley Snipes character, you get an immortal dressed like a Japanese school girl, Saya (Gianna Jun). Her job is to chop vampires in half--just like Blade and his, um, blade. And, in the end, there is a confrontation with the leader of the vampires who turns out to be their mother!! In fact, I really wish "Blood" HAD starred Wesley Snipes...in a Japanese school girl outfit and with braids!!The bottom line is that this film offers nothing new. You might think, yeah, but it's based on an earlier anime. Yes...one that came out two years after the movie "Blade" and about 27 years AFTER the "Blade" comics! The action is more over the top than "Blade"--partly because the vampires are ALSO demons in this one. But for me, the story just didn't deliver any reason to see the film in the first place. If you really, really, really, really must see it then by all means. The only new thing I got out of this film is a new understanding about the really nasty girls I knew in high school--they must have been vampire-demons!
Uriah43 Having suffered a personal tragedy several hundred years ago the half-vampire, "Saya" (Gianna Jun) seeks to kill the head vampire responsible for it named "Onigen" (Koyuki). Likewise, a secret counsel, also formed hundreds of years ago, wants to kill Onigen as well and enlists the help of Saya. To gather clues about Onigen, they enroll Saya in an American high school on an air force base in Japan. Not long afterward, Saya comes to the aid of a classmate named "Alice McKee" (Allison Miller) who has been targeted by the vampires. By slaying them, Saya forces Onigen to come out of hiding to respond. Anyway, that's the basic plot of the movie and in many ways it is similar to "Blade". However the main character in this film, Gianna Jun, doesn't act like she's doing everyone a favor by performing--like Wesley Snipes did in "Blade". In that regard, not only is she a better actor but she's much better looking too. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the supporting cast , script, or any of the other assets that "Blade" had and as a result all this film has to offer is a thin plot with plentiful action. Combine that with a couple of scenes which are entirely in Japanese (with no English subtitles) and it became difficult to maintain interest at times. No doubt action fans who enjoy martial arts and sword fights will like this film. But because the dialogue and acting opportunities were so limited, the talents of Gianna Jun and Koyuki (who appeared in the movie "The Last Samurai") were never fully utilized. As a result, this film never realizes its potential.
Criticman12 When Hollywood adapts Anime, they get panned by critics and don't do so well at the box-office. But one day, I watched the live-action adaptation of the anime film, "Blood: The Last Vampire". After watching it, it was not that bad.The story is just like the anime film except a bit different. It's about a Vampire girl named, Saya, who goes undercover as a student at a High School next to an air base. But later on, she comes face-to-face with the demon who killed her father, Onigen.Pro's: I was surprised that most of the scene's from the anime film were shown. The fight scene's were good. The acting from Gianna Jun (Who played, Saya) was good.Con's: The second half of the film had nothing to do with the anime film. The movie only focused on Saya and no one else. I did not care too much for the character, Alice. The CGI was really bad.Overall, "Blood: The Last Vampire", is better than other anime adaptations, but it's still a bad adaptation. You're better off watching the anime film.
taylorfar Epic! epic movie, that's all I have to say, put it this way I hate making accounts for stuff like IMDb, and after years of looking at this site for reviews I've made an account just to put a review on this movie and defend it from these atrociously low ratings and reviews because I saw it was so undersold and unfairly accused as a tosh movie. It's full of win to the brim, while I can't guarantee you'll like this movie it must be watched for you to decide for yourself, I see reviews either extremely low or extremely high for a reason, its a real love it or hate it but you just have to find out for yourself I personally loved it, visually stunning fight scenes were a non stop thrill characters were totally likable and I think the story as I found out based on the anime was really good with no big holes, the negative things people have complained about I consider semantics and did not at all take away from the awesomeness that was Blood the last vampire.
