BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
werlingjakob If you were too go and rank the top ten best movie/television portrayals of Batman, Kevin Conroy's portrayal would probably be in the top five. He voiced batman in Batman: The Animated Series which was a cartoon that ran from 1992 to 1994. He also continues to voice Batman in various animated movies such as Batman: Mask of the Phantasm- which is often considered the best animated Batman movie of all time. And after watching it, I think I could probably agree with that opinion. I recently made a list of 300 movies I have to watch before I'm nineteen and this is the first movie I had to watch in the Animated section. First off, Batman; Mask of the Phantasm had a really good and intelligent story that had a really good final twist and also nicely retold Batman's origin story. It also explored some new narrative ground, introduced a cool new villain named Phantasm, explored Bruce's psychological issues, and had a great romantic subplot as well. The voice acting was on par, featuring both Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill at their finest voicing The Caped Crusader and The Clown Prince of Crime. The characters were believable. Bruce Wayne dealt with some very human issues and felt very human (unlike Val Kilmer's portrayal of him in the Batman movie that came next), Andrea felt very human too. And I like how the movie examined and developed their relationship throughout the film. And Phantasm was scary, Joker was psychotic, Arthur was charming- the characters acted like they were supposed too.The action sequences were decent through electrifying, with plenty of exciting fights and chase sequences scattered throughout. The movie also paints a dark, somber, gritty, and mature depiction of Gotham that the popular 60's live-action TV series never showed. The movie's visuals, exciting final sequence, and moral are also very good too. And you would probably be surprised but I found nothing bad at all with this movie. Final Consensus: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is probably the best animated Batman movie of all times featuring an interesting and mature story, good voice acting, good character development, electrifying action sequences, a gritty tone, decent visuals, great final sequence, and a good moral. It is nearly flawless, in my opinion. Due to frequent moderate violence and consistent moderately frightening scenes, this movie is recommended for kids 9+.
George Taylor This, based on the excellent Batman cartoon by Bruce Timm, is simply brilliant. Batman faces a villain who is almost as smart as he is. The voice cast is one of the best for any cartoon (WB spends money on their voice casts) and the story is engrossing. I could see littler kids being a little creeped out at parts, but this is definitely a love letter to fans.
tankace Mask of the Phantasm is Batman the Animated series in the big screen to say the least. The people who make this historic series they were put to made a movie based on the series in order to create demand and profit from the love that children and surprisingly adult show towards it. The production was done in a hurry and lasted only eight months and in Christmas on 1993 it open and flop making only 5,5 million against a budget of 6.I though that like the rest of the animated superhero( before 2004) movies this also was made for television or sold in video form and when I discovered the fact that had a theatrical release then my respect for it went up. In my point of view this is one of the best Batman interpretations and the story, the mystery, the characters work very well and it is an entertaining movie which kids and adults can enjoy. So here comes the question, why did it go so bad?? The answer ,not many went to see it ,I know is inconceivable but those things can occur if you do not make our product known to the public. The Warner Brothers market it for only two weeks before its opening week and remember is 1993 and the internet exist ,but is far from the omega high way of information we all know , and this had as a result many never either learn about it only months or years later when a lot of people rent or buy it of rent shores!!! The saddest part is not that a good Batman movie was overlooked and for a time everyone though that Batman would not be taken seriously after the Schumaker versions came out( lets not talk much about them ,their are maximum awful) but animated superhero films never really took of like their live action counterparts. The reason for that is that after this economic fail ,studios in general stopped investing to them and it does seem that this trend continues, because apart from the Incredibles that came out in 2004 and Big Hero 6 in 2014 ,animated capes and cowls are few and far in between. With the sequel to the Incredibles coming out in 2017 in hope that more movies like that are going to be made and now more than twenty years later I believe that studios have learn their lesson. It speaks for itself the fact that we know about Incredibles 2 a year before it came out. So go want this movie and if you want a second opinion ,trust me has quite a cult following so is not to difficult to find a person to say to you that is good. Have fun :).
Petcu Lucian Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is a great animated movie where we find our beloved caped crusader facing an unknown and mysterious persona, the Phantasm. I watched this movies after I finished enjoying the Batman Animated Series and it captures everything we love about Batman. We get to see the greatest detective in the world in action, following the lead of a couple of mysterious murders for which he is wrongly accused. We get to see some interesting back story about Bruce Wayne in his early days of becoming the Dark Knight. Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman will always be my favourite and Mark Hamill as the Joker is exceptional and without an equal. I recommend this movie to all Batman fans and to everybody who enjoys a great animation with a captivating story.I give 10 to all the movies I've seen because I don't like grades, all I can say is I AM BATMAN !
