auburn-16223 Aaron Sorkin is a genius. He borrows from himself a lot if you watch other shows, but you know what? He's allowed. That's what's floating around in his brain.Didn't watch this show the first time around, but when I found it on Netflix, I couldn't stop. Beautifully written, shot, and through The West Wing Weekly podcast, remembered. This show has a timeless quality to it, because it focuses on human interaction, and isn't flashy or gimmicky. Thanks to all who made this show happen.
lukeshulver I have watched The West Wing from start to finish 3 times and it never fails to elicit every single range of emotions. I have laughed out loud, shed a tear, and shouted out in anger, sometimes all within a single episode. With the incredibly fast paced dialogue, the wit and palpable on screen chemistry the cast clearly share, it is a joy to behold. In terms of content it raises above the standard fair of crime, violence, blood, gore, Kardaasians and car chases, and instead speaks to the hopes and dreams of a society where hard work, integrity, intelligence, and honour are celebrated instead of mediocrity and presented in the best 45 minutes of TV history ever created. Oh how I wish there were more shows like this capable of reminding and restoring faith in humanity. Mandatory viewing for boxset bingers.
pete I bought this TV show because I am bored and I like wit. Apparently this show has that, hence why I am watching it. I am four episodes in. TH=he TV show is quite old making the resolution not so great. I like a show that has good definition but in this case I will not complain. THe show is fast paced and I don't like that. However, the content is funny. Its not just funny but it reflects politics and I personally think politics is a little funny because it thinks its serious and better yet, the people think it is more serious than what it (politics) thinks it is. I have no doubt that this show incorrectly reflects policy but TV has a habit of doing that with all things. Now I am not about to claim to know I meaning of life because I do not believe there is one but! if there is one it would consist of this show, that is not to say I believe this show is the meaning of life.... how ever something is the meaning of life, I am just not sure what it is but I know it is something.... I think we can all come to the conclusion that politics may govern it but politics is not it so that being said, if, you, are, one of those who are currently searching for the meaning of life, I can confidently confirm that this show is not it. This show is no more than a joke which is what it is meant to be. That is respectable in its own right but we must ask ourselves is politics no more than a joke?If so we both can complacently concede that life up until this point, as far as we know, is a joke.I now on to the third season and I most certainly enjoyed the relationship CJ has with two turkeys and her passionate request for their pardon. On a more serious note I also enjoy the thought out themes that are certainly connected with reality.Ainsley Hayes is also brilliant, I like her idiotic humble attitude which fails to mock Christianity while every guy in the house swoons over her. Often God is ignorantly but cunningly attacked by the intelligent wit of men like Bartlett and that to is curiously interesting.
Mr-Fusion One of the things I really like about "The West Wing" is that it's a show steeped in politics, but ends up being about the drama. I usually find myself getting lost in the dialogue, which is the mark of a great show. The writing on this thing is brilliant. Very nice set design, too. I've never been to the White House, but I do love the sets; it's just a very warm presence. And the actual show wouldn't be anything without its stellar. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better ensemble on prime time.Speaking of its politics, this has a reputation for being very left. Which is all well and good. But the person who turned me onto this was not at all liberal. Just saying.Personally, I just love Martin Sheen as President Bartlet. The man's got the commanding presence and charisma oozing from his very pores. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want him in the real oval office.8/10
