Reviews

Wordiezett So much average
Aiden Melton The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
joshkej-84077 The reason why Avatar: The Last Airbender was so great was because it took a fairly simple good vs evil conflict, and as the story progressed, it became more nuanced and morally gray by exploring the ambitions of the heroes and villains. The exact opposite holds true for The Legend Of Korra, where almost every Season starts off with the potential for a complex and nuanced story, yet ends up being black & white, good vs evil, and every seemingly sympathetic villain turns out to be a generic Big Bad that just used the Philosophy of the Day to hide their true intentions, with Season 2 being clearest example of this. The characters are all bland, with the possible exclusion of Korra's teacher, Tenzin. Team Avatar itself feels extremely disconnected and its members treat eachother less like best friends and more like awkward coworkers. The humor is cringey, the romance is horrific and the writing feels like Fan Fiction at times, with some ridiculous new additions to the Avatar Universe (Pokémon Spirits, Giant Demon Kites, Laser Titans and Giant Robots FFS) Overall, The Legend Of Korra is superficially entertaining, and what it has in visual appeal, it lacks in depth and emotion. It focuses more on trying to be edgier and darker than Avatar that it completely loses focus on crafting a good story and compelling characters, thus the supposedly "mature themes" fail to leave any impact.
Navod Wijesekara I Really Loved the Original Avatar Aang Series ( I mean, who didn't?) and sincerely thought any reboot wouldn't match it's Class - Period. And Seeing The Reviews On this Korra Series, I felt It Just justified what I thought. Nothing could be as great as awesome as ATLA, even with this same directors. So For This Long, I Skipped Watching Korra because of this ratings ( Compared With Aangs 9.5, Korra currently has 8.6). That was very stupid. Never Believe Ratings.Maybe the high expectations or the loyalty to the original series made people consider this series not as great, though The 1st few episodes suggested it justified. it was completely different, and not lovely & was quite complicated. But as the Story goes on, maybe Season 3 & 4, Are doubtably the best ever Seasons in History of Cartoons. I'm not kidding. Last Episode of The 3rd Season, Wow! Remember the Very Last epiosde of ATLA? Sosen's comet part4? Well, You're missing the chance to see a better Finale, I'd Dare Say, Than that if you miss korra's season 3 last epi. Low Ratings MUST be from People Who Just watched 1st Season or the 2nd to the max... No Way Season 3 & 4 Deserved Ratings leeser than 9! So Do Yourself a favour And watch the whole 4 Seasons of Korra... You will see A worthy Successor for ATLA. P.S. Pardon my grammar. Love From Sri Lanka To The Whole Avatar Universe! Most Favourite Cartoon Series Ever! From Aang to Korra... And To All The AVATARs to Follow!
unicornvsdragon As a fan of the original avatar, LoK is a disappointment to me. The pacing is awful with almost no good flow between books. Someone could skip an entire book and still be able to know everything for the next two seasons. Next is the characters, most are forgettable and rather than their actions effecting the plot, the plot just happens to them. Some characters never even grow since their first appearance to the final moments of the show. The real kicker is the romance and love triangles, avatar isn't known for focusing on romance instead it favors character development, world building, and action. It could have worked for LoK, but like I said the characters never have hints or even romantic chemistry together. The way relationships and characters are handled is a checklist of popular tropes to grab attention, for example out of no where two characters go into a relationship. They had no proper build up and the "hints" can be taken as platonic rather than romantic (blushes don't always mean romance). A character that is supposed to be "progressive" means nothing when they have no real depth to them.People need to know this: Characterization and presentation over representation. It seems like the creators just did what they want while disregarding what the first series had built up. Multiple continuity errors and the magic of bending replaced with machines.
benjaminburt This cartoon has been reviewed to death, so let me just be concise - Avatar: the Last Airbender is arguably the greatest children's cartoon ever, and Korra is its good follow-up.Just a few notes: For every step forward this show takes, it also takes a step back. For all the good that came out of the show, please know that the pacing, tone, and plot are all kind of stilted, the characters are way less deep than in Avatar, and there are some retcons and developments that may bother purist Avatar fans. But, for most Avatar fans, you will enjoy Legend of Korra. It is a return to that land that we love so much and the magical bending that so engrossed us.If you are interested in the show, I would recommend seeing Avatar first, then this show. Both are worth the watch, and seeing Avatar will improve this show all that much more.
