AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
thefinalword The first episode tries so hard to be 'cool' it takes away from the original idea why I was SO interested in the premise of this show. I'm going to make a guess that nobody was interested in this show so they could watch the main characters squabble about money and past relationships. The main character talks to God a lot, interesting, too bad he can only whine to him for his car not starting. He mewls pathetically, "Is this because I was with cheating w/ Connie?" See, the fact that he banged his hot asian sidekick, he feels amusingly guilty about, despite that he is married. "Haven't you got anything better to do?" He says, chiding "God". For taking the time to sabotage the starter of his 25 year old truck.I don't really give a fuck about who you fuck though, Mr. Cleaner. I want to learn about saving people from addiction. People want to assuage their guilt for cheating, vicariously through a tv show. Who cares about sexual infidelity?!. I'm not watching sex in the city or fast and the furious.? It's so designed for the average low attention span viewer so far. They make saving people from drugs look like a show about a car repossession company. They focus MORE time on the people who aren't even addicted! The addicts are barely focused on! When they pick someone up off the street for rehab, they begin to squabble about who gets to drive the junkie's lamborghini for the month. It's all too damned cool, I guess. I got another episode left in me--- I hope its more serious. Yes, there are spoilers in this review, but believe me its impossible to spoil that first episode. Very shallow and infuriatingly misleading because I was very excited for this show."This makes for uneasy viewing as one must ask should psychological or chemical addiction be turned into entertainment?"
jrw-12853 William Banks is an ex-addict who turned his life around by making a covenant with God to help addicts if he can live a life free of addiction. William and his crew engage in interventions with primarily drug and alcohol addicts. I found the show to be absolutely riveting. It is refreshing to see CBS doing a show that showcases a man talking to God throughout each episode. William Banks offers a black and white crystal clear point of reference on the rights and wrongs of substance abuse. The pilot episode was a little hard to get through, but, after that I couldn't stop watching until I had seen every episode. The Cleaner is a truly unique drama. In the present stench of a drug legalizing culture, The Cleaner is a well deserved breath of clean fresh air.
MemphisChik I loved the show at first, but watching the "in your face" drug use does make me uncomfortable. Especially with Arnie's relapse so graphically portrayed. With a husband struggling with addiction, it's difficult to see the drug use, so vivid in HD, in our living room. I have to give the show's creators big applause for the realistic portrayal of drugs in all walks of society. Unfortunately, sometimes it's just too realistic for me. I tend to watch television for an escape and, living with addiction, this show doesn't provide an escape. William Banks is a lifesaver for many and his story can provide hope for families struggling with addiction. I just would like to see more innuendo towards drugs and less blatant drug use. That may be unrealistic in a show of this nature, I admit. So perhaps I just need to change the channel.
mlsongbirdkeyofc I began watching this show with the very first episode. I maybe would have not given it much thought, however, my husband has been in recovery from addiction for about 14 months now. He loves the show and can relate to so many of the addicts Mr. Banks helps. It is real for him. I like the show and can relate with the families of the addict. My husband and I have been married 25 years and addiction has been a major struggle in both our families for most of our lives. This show is a wonderful look at both sides of the addiction. Not only the addict but also the affects it has on the family member dealing with the addict... I will look forward to many more episodes of The Cleaner. God bless William Banks for saying, I'm not gonna take it anymore... My husband would love to meet the man behind the show. Is there a way???
