KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
TheHaguereviewer What a piece of crap ladies and gentlemen. I've watched and enjoyed the complete Battlestar Galactica series twice. Nine stars for the series. Zero for this sort of compilation/amalgamation/it doesn't make any sense-sation. It is badly edited, there is no plot, no plan whatsoever and it does not bring anything of value to the saga. They should be ashamed of having released this film. So, if you want more of Galactica and you do not mind watching other characters, you rather spend your time with Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, a chapter in the early life of Bill Adama. In summary: Battlestar Galactica fans, stay away from this movie; people who want to know more about the Battlestar Galactica world, so sorry to tell you that you won't find in this film a tenth of the thrill and expectation that the series creates.
Jay_Kay_71 Loved it, however it is one for the real fans. The CGI, was pretty cool and stayed true to the original concept, The initial nuclear holocaust is done particularly well and portrays the scale much better than in the series.Galactica's strength right throughout the run (IMO), came from the character arcs, the writing and of course the portrayal by the actors. This is where The Plan wins my vote, it fully realises and better portrays the true nature and motivations of the Cylon model characters. Dean Stockwell as Cavil is brilliant. I was a bit disappointed with his character in the series, I thought he was more sarcastic than actually evil, the story certainly needed a true villain, however in The Plan he doesn't disappoint.Sure there's a lot of re-cycled scenes but who cares, if you're getting a new dimension to the story it's all good.Big thanks to Eddie Olmos & Jane Espenson for giving us this additional dimension. Also I love the way, in the directors commentary, that Eddie makes a real effort to try and thank every last film crew member, you can tell that he is a really nice, genuine guy and cares passionately about the Galactica brand. Bravo.
tomtracks If this ran in October of '09 then my wife and I missed it. A little surprising since SciFi (or whatever it's called now) is a channel we generally keep our eye on.Since the series is over and we can't get any more BSG, then I very much disagree with the nay-sayers. Maybe they think a TV SHOW is supposed to make them tea or fix their frakkin' car. No, it's amusement and we thought it weaved an interesting thread through the series, and showed some amusing goings-on that were heretofore unknown. It focused on the cylon models that didn't get as much face time in the series, and those actors were worthy of the attention. Yes, it seemed like maybe there was some footage that might have been canned during a given episode, but it wasn't because it sucked, but because an episode lasts 42 minutes (mol) and they usually shoot much more. The Plan was still part and parcel the storyline we craved and the characters we had grown to love or hate. And it had its dark places. It seemed like they were going to address the mystery of the phantom ship in the "33" episode, which was a great one, but that not happening was my only real disappointment.Try not to over-think it. If you liked BSG, then you will like The Plan.
hiigarasjet Let me open this review with simply....FRAK-TAKULAR But this review will probably get bombed with negativity...It's a good 107 minutes worth of interesting back story that was never covered in the series. The Plan shows us the cylon point of view from just before the attacks on the colonies up until toward the end of the second season of battlestar galactica...I will stay clear of giving too much away...it's filled with dark humor and sexual humor but it's all in good fun. Most hardcore BSG fans out there will either cringe or swoon over this movie I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was just an extension of Battlestar Galactica!...I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen the full series...!Everyone wants to find something to complain about from board posts and negative reviews..I give this 10 stars with the advice of, "Ignore all reviews and go in watch it without any expectations"So get some pop corn and your favorite cylon plush toy and sit back and enjoy!
