Synopsis

Allison "Sonny" Munroe makes the leap from the Midwest to Los Angeles to join the cast of "So Random!," the most popular sketch comedy TV show for kids and tweens. Her fellow young actors are resident teen queen Tawni, super suave Nico, gregarious funnyman Grady and quirky Zora. Now Sonny must somehow balance these new friendships while adjusting to her family's decidedly different way of life in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Sonny must also contend with heartthrob Chad Dylan Cooper, star of the rival show "MacKenzie Falls," who makes it known that he thinks his dramatic work is better than her comedy career.

Reviews

Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
anthony-rigoni Demi... Demi, Demi, Demi, Demi... You're a nice girl, I respect that. Why would a nice girl like you star in a TV Show with a bunch of people who are out to get you? Just... why? Sonny is a nice girl from Wisconsin who gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she goes to Hollywood, California to star in a TV sitcom simply named "So Random!"... Wow, that would be a subtle name of a sitcom, don't you think? My thoughts on this show? Sonny is the only character I care about while all the others are so unlikeable, they would make the Garbage Pail Kids look like the Pound Puppies. Tawni Hart(played by Tiffany Thorton) is such a self-centered Paris Hilton wannabe, Chad Dylan Cooper(played by Sterling Knight) is a jerk, Nico Harris(Played by Brandon Mychal Smith) is like a human version of Scooby-Doo(Only not funny), Grady Mitchell(Played by Doug Brochu) is a doofus, and Allisyn Ashley Arm is so weird, she would make Beetlejuice look like a normal person. Long story short: Sonny is the only person I care about, the jokes are unfunny, "So Random!" is a ripoff of "All That!" and the rest of the cast are either mean, weird, or socially awkward.
nourhan95 Ah, remember those days with "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse, Goofy & the rest of the lovable characters"... How the name "Disney" used to mean something to thousands of kids in the world. It was never of the money, it was for the sake of bringing smiles and joy to kids lives. After the year 2000 one of the producers decided to use "Teen Comedies" to attract more viewers of the older audience. That, of course, was a fail around 2009. It actually started off good with "Even Stevens, etc.." But ended with such disgraceful shows like "As The Bell Rings, Suite Life On Deck and SWAC..."SWAC was a poor, failed attempt, and a sad excuse to air on television. The sad teen angst who's the star of this so called TV show is none other than Demi Lovato. Now there are those jealous haters out there, determined to bring her acting career down. But they don't understand the effort it takes from a performer to purse your lips and smile with your molars and premolars out for 90% of a show. Like the fellow Demi fans said – she's just playing herself. It's really those hacks like Miley Cyrus and Emma Roberts who are destroying everything light hearted children's TV stood for. Who do they think they are to disappear into the heart and soul of characters they don't relate to or resemble in reality? When I'm watching a character on TV, I want to see the actor playing them. That's what made the most recent, Wizards of Waverly Place, so brilliant was that I could watch Selena Gomez being Selena Gomez the whole time yet grow blissfully unaware to her character's traits. Its an example of these shows which make people like Kristen Stewart & the "Twilight" crew deserve an Oscar. This show is a sad excuse to give Demi Lovato her own show. The clipped episode of "oh no you didn't & check it out!" made me want to break my TV. Sure, she can hit a note - but she does not possess any certain charisma that gets you hooked like "Hannah Montana". Nor is the show funny or witty in any way. The rest of the casts acting was as entertaining as throwing fish in barrels. At best, the closest Demi ever came to making the character believable was having the mom resemble her. (pauses) Ohhh!
midream-night Not everything is funny in it, especially when they play the laughter. But I laugh here and there, and when it has a good plot, I get excitedto know what's going to happen next. It's actually a really decent show.Demi Lovato is a good actor, but can over-do it sometimes. It is kindof cheesy, but it's a good show. One of the best shows on Disney Channel. At best, 7/10.. It's worth watching and you get attached. I really like it. Chad and Sonny seem cute together, but I just find the character Zora to be really annoying.
Rasberriesluv7788 i think that this show is one of the best I've seen on Disney in a long time. tiffany or tawni is an amazing character; i love how her and sonny pretend to be enemies but in reality they have become the best of friends, its also thrilling and suspenseful to see what they say next shes a very complicated character but its fun to try and catch up to her. demi is very radiant and exciting in this show, some people say that she could do much much better but i say that she makes her character become herself and not a lot of actors and actresses her age can do that; its a pretty awesome gift to have if you ask me. nicos kind of the kid who gets all the girls in his dreams haha but in reality he tries to get as many as he can but many times does not succeed. gradys kind of refreshing he lightens up the scenes with his personality hes one of those chubby kids that always seems to put a smile on your face. sterling knight aka chad Dylan cooper is my personal favorite and i bet a lot of young teens could relate to him. he's a pretty sensitive guy but since he doesn't want anyone to know the soft side of him he acts like a jerk. he tries to deny that he has feelings for sonny but everyone who watches the show can tell he does. its amazing and a ton of fun to watch this show and watch these young people grow. the only thing that this show could use more of is new episodes maybe a new character or co-star and they need to get chad and sonny together all ready. who ever says this show needs more than it already has obviously has no idea what a good show is about. this is the perfect series for any age. the stiffness of the acting just adds to the excitement. everyone from sonny with a chance, keep on rocking that stage don't let any review tear your show apart; i for one have faith in you they're just bitter :)
