Bereamic Awesome Movie
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Python Hyena Meet Dave (2008): Dir: Brian Robbins / Cast: Eddie Murphy, Elizabeth Banks, Gabrielle Union, Scott Caan, Ed Helms: Meet one of the worst pieces of cinematic junk of the year. If one can predict right, it will likely meet total silence from those who celebrated its stars earlier successes. It regards contact between two factors but unfortunately those factors didn't include this film meeting a sledge hammer. A spaceship in the form of Eddie Murphy lands on earth and is operated by little people including a captain that resembles him. Once their human ship is struck by a car he is befriended by a young woman and her son. Director Brian Robbins met success with Varsity Blues but since then he has made crap such as Hardball and Ready to Rumble. The special effects here are on par with the state's worst student science projects. Easily one of Murphy's worst performances as he once again proves that the whole multiple role thing should have been left with The Nutty Professor. Elizabeth Banks is wasted as the mom whom almost wraps her car around him. Gabrielle Union plays #3 because apparently Murphy already sabotaged #1 and #2. Scott Caan plays a cop who investigates the site where Dave crash landed. Perhaps he should have investigated those whom green lit this project. This film should crash land then be buried so that no one will have to endure it again. Score: 1 / 10
NinetyEighty It's a strange little movie and it's a little hard to believe no one would notice the aliens in some scenes. There are some obvious cgi and compositing, but if you are the type like myself that gets a kick out goofs you might actually like it anyway. As for the humor itself, I liked it and did laugh out for some parts. If you were to make-believe what an experience for tiny people would be like, the situational writing is quite good and understandable. Ed Helms is interesting to see as the uptight and funnily named Number Two and he might be a surprise to some who might not have remembered that he was in this. I'm not promising you'll like it, but perhaps if you read more on the flaws before expecting anything great, it might be more tolerable. Seems to work with me.
zif ofoz this is a simple and sweet movie for parents and children to watch together and have some fun!not too much can be said about this movie outside of the fact that eddie murphy is always funny and using his body as a 'spaceship' was genius. the space ship crew is full of wacky characters that must learn 'earth ways' quickly to achieve their mission. and in that the story unfolds into many laughs. nothing ugly or obscene happens here. just lots of visual gags and plenty of dumb laughs.and the ends offers a real message all children and adults need to hear more often. so give this funny but dumb movie a try! and i bet once you watch it you won't forget it!!
TheLittleSongbird Meet Dave is nowhere near as atrocious as Norbit, but if you want an Eddie Murphy classic look no further than Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours and Trading Places. The premise in Meet Dave is stupid in a way but it was intriguing too, the film visually doesn't look too shabby, it starts off very well and Scott Caan and Elizabeth Banks give fun performances. Sadly I can't say the same for Murphy, who tries too hard and over-compensates embarrassingly. He is saddled with some of the weakest material of the film to be fair. The humour in general is very lame and lowbrow, the gags are mostly unimaginative and the script is unfunny and only got a raised eyebrow from me at one or two points. And while the concept is decent, how the story itself is executed isn't so much, it did feel very rushed and some scenes screamed of you've-seen-it-all-before kind of sensation you can get sometimes, while the direction is unfocused. Overall, liked the concept, disliked in general the film. 4/10 Bethany Cox
