Reviews

Cebalord Very best movie i ever watch
SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Casey Duggan It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Matho The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
magnetiko7 It's never worked so far. Try bearing Coupling US remake, Being Human US remake or this Primeval Canada spin-off. They've never been better than originals but for an unknown reason they keep coming. Casting is usually worse (therefore the acting is far worse), character development is poor and special effects -if there are any- are generally cheesier. There might be high expectations when it's a remake or spin-off to meet the original's standards and it's clearly a downside of remakes and spin-offs but it's a goal easier to achieve if you're doing a remake or spin-off of a North American original-North American remake / spin-off (as in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis) or UK original - UK remake / spin-off (as in Doctor Who). Primeval New World is a bit like watching Stargate Universe after Stargate SG-1 (skipping Stargate Atlantis). I liked Niall Matter in Eureka but here in Primeval New World -even if he tries his best in this poorly-written spin-off- I don't believe he can save the show. I liked Amanda Tapping as an actress in Stargate franchise, Sanctuary and Supernatural, but as a director in Primeval New World, I can't pay her a compliment. All in all, I wouldn't recommend you to waste your time watching this show or other remakes / spin-offs of UK TV series made by North Americans.
daisylgouldie I really wanted to like this programme, I loved the original and I miss it. I thought that it might actually bear some form of resemblance to the English one because Connor turns up in the opening episode, but from there it's just a bunch of fairly dull characters running around chasing large lizards. I don't see the point in this, after watching the amazing discoveries of all these anomalies in the English series having to watch a new load of characters get to grips with them seems a little pointless. The attempt at an underlying storyline is also a little dodgy, I won't post spoilers, but overall I wouldn't recommend watching it anyway.
Dark Jedi The last couple of episodes of this TV-show was shown on the French version of SyFy-channel last evening. I have actually not watched the very last one yet. We recorded that one since the French operators have this idiotic habit of sending loads of episodes of the same series on a single night. After two episodes we thought it was enough for one night. However, I doubt that watching the last episode, which I will when I get the time, will change my mind about this series. This TV-show is not really a spin-off of primeval but a that-sounded-cool-let's-do-one-ourselves series and as happens most of the time this one is at best a pale copy of the original. The original British TV-show was quite entertaining to watch. This one was not. If it would have been a SyFy original I would probably have classified it as acceptable but since they have blatantly taken the original Primeval idea and turned it into a typical American (yes I know it is actually Canadian) brainless soap-opera-style B-show I cannot even say that I found it acceptable. The story is nonexistent if you do not count the constant behind everyone's backs plotting and secret agendas. The main characters harps all the time about how you must not disturb the timeline and an entire episode is dedicated to a load of flashbacks at the same time as he is refusing to cooperate with the authorities. But the second he thinks he can save his wife by, you guessed it, changing the timeline he rushes off to do just that. The characters in general are mostly dumb and bungling and no one, even the lead characters, have a clue what they are doing. Evan Cross just runs around fumbling in the dark and at the same time denying all efforts to help. As a matter of fact, apart from the portals and the dinosaur theme, there is little of what made the original series appealing left in this one. It is just lazy scriptwriting and episode fillers almost like they wrote together every episode over a couple of beers the day before they were filming it.
Eva Fuller De-Meestere For those of you who enjoyed the original series of Primeval, do not watch this. You will constantly be expecting an actual story line like there was in the original and there really isn't. In the original there were people actually trying to learn about the anomalies (Nick Cutter, Sarah Page and Connor Temple)whereas now they don't have that at all. It's basically like you've spent 40 minutes watching a load of stupid children running around after dinosaurs. All this is is an attempt to copy the old series with none of the humor, romance or action. This series has no mystery or even a clear villain.Unfortunately I can't see this series going anywhere.
