Reviews

CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Sixten Ambros No, I guess this wasn't for me. Before I start I should say I haven't watched more than 5 episodes, but I really didn't have motivation to keep going. The point is I could be wrong in some of my complaints. The reason I started watching was because of the reviews on here. You all seemed to think it was a ''exellent'' or if not a good series. Well- well, I'm gonna have to disagree. The number one issue is the character development. They're all flat and empty! Am I the only one who thinks so? As the story goes along we get to follow this extremely bored and uncharismatic girl that is trying to soak in to the whole ''being-dead-situation''. I'm not a fan of hers. I get that she's meant to be the way she is, but if you're gonna have such a boring and uninteresting head-character, you got to have other supporting roles to make it interesting to watch. Though, there is only one actor that felt real, and that is Mr. Mandy Patinkin as her ''teacher''. The rest of the supporters are flat and their dialog feels forced and unnatural, so does the dark humor the director miserably fails with. The Acting isn't that great either. With all these flaws I couldn't keep watching it anymore. Why would I really? Uninteresting, flat in most ways, and as the berry on the cake: it's seemingly unfunny. The only thing I thought was funny was the whole idea. A young girl dies and is given the task to be a grim-reaper! I'm just saying, It's a shame that it wasn't executed better.
John Freeman This show is utterly ridiculous I'm amazed someone had the courage to produce it. Am I ever grateful that someone. The show is so cleverly written and well acted that the absurd becomes possible. I am bummed it didn't go past two seasons when it should have gone at least six or seven.I became attached to the characters and their lives. In fact I was so caught up in this weird fantasy that I would actually think about them when I wasn't watching the show. The beginning of the pilot has George becoming a grim reaper in such a ludicrous manner that you know you are in for a really bad experience or a really good one. It is a good one, funny and silly and lost of fun. This series cannot disappoint. Watch it and you will discover you can't watch just one.
syer zec If someone is looking for a drama series close to SIX FEET UNDER, forget it. DEAD LIKE ME is so different like no other - except death, which is everywhere ;-) And I don't think that the show wants sentimentalism (maybe only in 2-3 episodes), because it is not a drama series in my eyes. Otherwise you could not easily skip 1-2 shows without feeling lost in seasons' plot.If you want a nice entertaining evening, relaxing without thinking afterward about the show - or cry, than you have to watch it. The show rewards you with a cute storyline and funny oral attacks. I have really enjoyed the whole show and especially season 2 - maybe because the acting did a very big step forward. Way better than season 1.And once again you cannot compare DEAD LIKE ME with SIX FEET UNDER (personal rate 9-10). For example you could mixed up the episodes of DEAD LIKE ME (especially on the second trial - if you do so). Today episode 10, tomorrow episode 2, end so on. With SIX FEET UNDER and it is not that easy to do so - also not if you see it through for a second time.
alan-broome I really like this show. It is, at times, perfection. Ellen Muth is a revelation and really carries the show along. The first episodes were deeply affecting and created tension through character and the situations unfolding. Later episodes seemed too gimmicky and light. but through it all there is Ellen Muth and really the show is about her and her brilliant character. What I like is how you are constantly surprised by the character and Muth's depth of playing those surprises. She makes everything feel real and grounded and she's able to transfer what her character feels and thinks directly to the audience. There doesn't seem to be any artifice or manipulation. Many of the supporting characters do a wonderful job as well. I only wish the series didn't stumble mid- way in the first season.
