Gary and Sue begin to lose the plot as tiredness and sleep deprivation kick in. Their new neighbours Bill and Mary are introduced to, and instantly forgotten by, Gary. At work, session singer Vicky begins to question her relationship with live-in boyfriend Lance, as her musical colleagues look on.

Sue attempts to become a celebrity mum and get her figure back. Gary causes chaos as he attempts to park his car. An unsympathetic motorist has his revenge, but Gary has the last laugh. A leaky gutter spells building trouble for Gary and Sue, but Frank the builder is on hand to re-assure them. Vicky agrees to babysit, unaware that Ronnie has his own plans for the evening.

There's a crisis in the Chandler household when Sheepie the toy goes missing, and Lance accuses Vicky of stifling their relationship. Gary and Sue realise family life has driven them to drink, so they attempt to reduce their alcohol intake - but frustration gets the better of them when Bill announces he's offended by the pair's colourful language.

4. Just Looking (Stereophonics) Sue is insulted when a stranger gives her a long stare in the park and demands that Gary confront the man. In protecting Sue's honour, Gary comes to confront his sexuality and discovers that his heroes are not all he thought they were. Ronnie finally tells Vicky how he feels about her, but his chat-up lines don't have the desired effect and Gary sees future success in a manufactured girl group.

Ronnie begins to believe he has no chance of finding love, so can't believe his luck when he learns Lance has ended his relationship with Vicky. Sue finds a novel way of communicating with the idle builders, and a family trip to the park ends in disaster.

EP8 Lets Spend the Night Together (The Rolling Stones) Dec 09, 2005

Bath-time, and the Chandler family come together for a photo session which has unexpected consequences at the developers. Gary and Sue refuse to get involved with trick or treating and decide to turn out the lights and hide under the table. After a final round of dumping, Vicky turns up on Ronnie's doorstep.

Synopsis

Blessed is a BBC television sitcom written by Ben Elton and starring Ardal O'Hanlon as Gary, a record producer, who is struggling to bring up two small children. The series was broadcast on BBC One on Friday evenings at 9.00pm between October and December 2005. It featured the lullaby Morningtown Ride as its theme, sung by the cast band. No second series was commissioned.

Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
blood_summit Let's get one thing straight; This was BAD! So Putrid that it doesn't even qualify to be imprinted on anyone's memories.The ever repeating storyline (who's constant recycling of not only jokes but story lines and character appearances.) A typical storyline goes as follows; Sue (the mother) opens the episode quoting on how she loves her baby son but smells awful (As if THAT doesn't get old! har-de-bloody-har!), some Australian quasi-nationalist "bogan" -look it up- appears to say how she thinks she's awesome because she's an ozzie while everything/everyone else that isn't sucks before disappearing for the rest of the episode. (a small mercy)The rest of the plot revolves around the father (Gary) getting in some kind of disagreement with Sue and him talking to members of his band for advice on how to sort it out.The phrase "words fail me" is an old one but this is where it is the most truthful thing to say. It is so incredibly BAD! So HORRIBLE, that I would like every trace of it's existence sent to the lowest depths of the North sea and life can go on.It saddens me though, to see someone as good as Sally Bretton (good actress, I like her) make a prat out of herself, Ardal O Hanlon (My Hero aside) has the ability to be pretty funny - but not here - and Ben Elton, distinguished for so much good stuff somehow manages to come up with this...thing then comedy is in very serious trouble!
dragonmaster0303 ....and now I'm up to episode #7. I really was hoping it'd be over by now (not to mention canceled, once everything connected with the show -including the actors - had been dumped along with some toxic waste in the middle of the ocean somewhere, never to be seen again), because this series really is dire. To have this program listed under the genre of 'comedy' is at best misleading! It's so hard to believe Ben Elton could write something this bad, maybe this points to a lot of input from the other writers in everything he's been connected with before. In some episodes I haven't even laughed once!Oh, and I can't believe Ardal O'Hanlon actually stopped doing 'My hero' & started doing this instead, his decision making skills were obviously impaired that day - perhaps he simply can't read, and didn't realise just how poor the scripts for 'Blessed' were. Don't get me wrong, 'My Hero' is not masterpiece, but it's a million times better than this piece of junk.And just to annoy me even more I bet this gets a DVD release as well, when there are so many great TV series' that aren't getting released!
kimberly-97 A truly genuine programme on the joys of new parenthood. There we were - my husband and i, watching "Blessed" on a Friday night, laughing saying "we're not the only ones!" Thought the smug neighbours were spot on and Mel Giedroycis brilliant as a new harassed mother. Ben Elton has captured the highs and lows of family life in half hour slot beautifully. Gary and Sue - the two new parents - had me nodding my head in relation to each story line. The frantic loss of "sheepie" (sons favourite toy) - the disappearance of dummies ("where do they go?" Sue asks in bewilderment and anger - my point exactly) Ardal O'Hanlon captures the distress of a new father who does his best not to drown in nappies, cynicism and baby colds.
Max Cady Absolutely awful.Poor Ben Elton has a lot of catching up to do if we wants to be where Richard Curtis is at. And this unfunny sitcom that has no studio audience, has dreadful, cringe-worthy middle class characters is no help. Even the theme tune evokes memories of the Curtis created Vicar of Dibley. Every week this show fails the five-minute test; I doubt you will still be with the show after the first five minutes.Finally, and this is another shot in the foot, Ardal O'Hanlon was good in Father Ted, but wasted in My Hero, which he should have stopped doing after one series, is not the ideal leading man here. The guy pretending to be Mick Jagger is simply irritating.
