Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

billcr12 Waking Ned Devine is a light comedy with some terrific performances throughout. The lottery is won by a man named Ned Devine. As no one has claimed the prize, a couple of the village people do a full scale investigation to find out who amongst the 50 or so towns people has won. Ned Devine has died of a heart attack and the two men work out a means to collect the money. It involves the entire town and a plot of precision. I will not spoil the outcome, so just sit back and enjoy the rollicking ride with the beautiful scenery of the Isle of Man.

team5 I went to my grandmother's, and unfortunately, she owns only one TV. So one evening I was forced to watch « Waking Ned Devine » with her and my sister. Any ways my grandma always decides everything. I imagined the black and white movie with guns and so on... But honestly I was surprised by the quality of the image.Okay, it is not an old movie, but even ! I could mention that it's a timeless movie. Indeed it takes place in a small village and small villages existed but they still exist, so we can't locate the story in time. Although the characters create a special atmosphere, this movie is yet sleepy for one reason : THERE IS NO ACTION. Oh no, I'm not totally right : I forgot the scene of Lizzie's death. Wow, she just flew, it was so spectacular. Moreover this scene was funny thanks to the direction : there were a contrast between the villagers celebrating their victory and Lizzie alone. But in the both of the scenes we feel joyful. Nonetheless it is interesting because of the humour of the second degree (some are shocked seeing an old naked man riding a motorbike. Why doing a scandal about that?!) and the presence of a moral even if this one and the interest of the movie aren't really searched, any ways I don't like complicated films. So maybe my sister is not into it and won't advice it to her friends, while my grandma is totally fan of it. Personally, this film deserves its place in my top 150 of the best movies I have ever watched. I really advice it to you if you are bored.

AlexiaFranckVincent I purchased the film in a videolibrary in 2005 but I watched it yesterday. My 15 children watched it without my authorization, they called me and said "Daddy, watch it". I decided to see it with my sister because she loved old movies and old techniques using by cameramen and director. During the movie, I was lost a few times that's why I don't understand the film and I fell a sleep such as when Mikael was without clothes I was surprising and I remember my children have seen this however my sister was very interested by the film she really love Maurice the child of Maggie, and she cried during Ned's funeral. I'm actually thinking claiming my money back. I will never purchase a movie in this videolibrary again. The film is meant to be humorous, but it's less funny than Alien. The movie is so old than when I caught the DVD I missed to have tetanos. Except this, the actors are well-played and the characters are interesting. The plot is well thought-out. I regret buying this film. I wasted 44 euros in this DVD and I feel like the video library wiped its bottom with my banknotes, and acting the same way that Jackie when he hangt the cheque on the target. Even my wife didn't like it, and when the film finished, she said «We wasted our evening. There where Inspector Derrick on France 2.» To put in a nutshell, I think that's it's one of the worst movie I've ever seen.

areatw 'Waking Ned' is a fun little movie about a village that conspires to claim the lottery winnings of a deceased resident. It is brilliantly written and provides some genuinely hilarious individual scenes, with charismatic and fun lead characters.For a low budget, relatively unknown film, I was surprised at just how good it was. This is the perfect feel good film - a simple, easy to follow plot, endearing characters and a well-written script. That's really all that is needed.I would highly recommend this gentle, uplifting comedy film. A great way to spend a couple of hours.
