Reviews

WasAnnon Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
eileen_seah IMO overall rate is a bit low, so don't skip this movie after looking at the ratings, as the film is emotionally great. This film will make you feel the emotion ups and downs and struggle with the protagonist, his budding love, and his childhood friend who keeps chaining him down. Its really impacting.
meaninglessbark I'd initially avoided Those People due to some well written IMDb reviews from users who essentially hated the film or at best found it lacking. But I eventually decide to give the film a shot and was quite surprised. The story is mainly about one character, art school student Charlie, finally choosing to get out of the shadow and influence of his best friend, rich kid Sebastian, a guy he loves dearly but who is an adult spoiled brat. (In case you missed it: Hint hint, nudge nudge...Brideshead, yeah?)Other People has an intimate, almost claustrophobic look to it, most scenes happen at night and often in small, dark toned interiors. The film is set in the fall and winter, a great time to watch it.
pakenmann Excellent film altogether.Loved the boyish drama twists and turns.Appreciate that the script actually maintains continuityIt's also great that it attacks the serious problems looming in the context. It reminded me of 'Dreamers' and I kinda felt that apart from Ursula, the other characters weren't really given any profile or real screen time. They could have actually played some role. One thing though: do they not wear tallit on Rosh haShana in the states?
Red_Identity I do think this film was very watchable. I also think this could have been a romance that cut deeper, but somehow the execution felt lacking by the end. I would still recommend it, but some of the characters really do become insufferable to the point that I don't think the writers intended, since they try to make us feel sympathy at certain moments even though I'm just in disbelief. Definitely not very likable characters. However, it's well-acted for the most part and it doesn't indulge in silly, cheap twists and turns. The premise here is very real and one that many people might connect with, I just wish the execution was cleaner and smoother overall. Still, good enough.
