VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
MamaGravity good back-story, and good acting
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
ridleykemp I hate spiders. I mean, I really hate them. When I saw that a film called "The Web" had been accepted for the ELAIFF, I was worried. If the film had spiders, I would probably walk out and not be able to see any of the other films. I still have nightmares about Charlotte's Web.But enough about spiders. Don't you just hate the way spiders walk? It's like all eight legs are controlled by a different brain. There's no coordination between them at all. And their eyes! Are you serious? What kind of a God allows such an abomination to exist, let alone create it. So, the bottom line is, there are NO spiders in "The Web". None.10/10
dtp11 A "no-frills, lots-of-thrills" film. WEB might as well stand for "Well Executed Biography". Tells the story of Johnny Depp, the hacker, saving world from an asteroid set on a path for earth due to a critical error made by Bill Gates. The kissing scene was breathtaking. Unfortunately, it didn't win an official award, but it officially awarded my heart with some lovely emotions."Move over Charlotte, there's a new web in town" -Roger Ebert, Circa 2013
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "The Web" is a 3-minute live action short film from 2013, so this one will have its 5th anniversary next year. Writer, director and lead actor is Nathan Fielder from Nathan for You, but honestly the character he portrays in this film adds absolutely nothing story-wise. The plot is about Bill Gates messing around too much with his programs and the consequence is a huge asteroid being on its course to destroy Planet Earth. But luckily, Bruce Willis is not needed this time as a Johnny Depp look-alike has great PC skills too. I would say it is a transcendence reference, but this one here came out a year earlier actually. The only question who stayed up in the air for me eventually was why this got made. Comedy is the only genre this film aspires to be something in and it was not particularly funny. Even at 3 minutes a waste of time mostly and honestly everybody in here added more than Fielder did, especially the (sadly uncredited) cute ginger girl early on. Overall a thumbs-down from me for this short. Don't watch.
Fogel McLovin I was one of the lucky few to see this film at the Eastern LA International Film Festival. The film - an action drama with hints of many of the greats (Stan Kubrick, Dennis Dugàn...) - it is clear to see this screenplay was first of its kind.Set in an altruistic future - where a brilliant programmer has to hack a rebarbative asteroid Fielder has imagined the effect on a group of shoppers. Johnny Depp is in his best since 'Lady Blue'; in one of his most memorable performances to date. The chemistry between the characters was nothing but expeditious and the final act held so much drama and thrill that it is easy to see why this film is the award winning film it was advertised to be. After seeing the previous documentary-exposé ("Me Farting on Command") the atmosphere in the room was palpable (one doesn't want to throw the word glacé around too much!) To anyone who has seen Johnny Depp's earlier work and liked his classics - 'Dead Men Tell No Tales', 'Untitled Short; I seriously recommend this parfois to modern action. This movie is a romp and a riot and a goof and also a gaff.A perfect film - 6/10 -McLovin, Fogel
