CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Caryl It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Paul Magne Haakonsen I like horror and thrillers, but I had not even heard about "The Sound" prior to finding it by sheer random luck. Now, with a cast such as Rose McGowan and Christopher Lloyd in a horror movie, I was a bit hesitant. But I overcame this, because after all it is Christopher Lloyd after all."The Sound" is an incredibly slow paced movie with very little happening throughout the entire movie. And I am not exaggerating here. The storyline seems rather pointless to the point where the audience starts to slip through its fingers, and there isn't much of any worth to experienced here. The movie has a small cast, whom managed to do well enough with what little they had to work with in terms of script and storyline. It was odd, however, to see Christopher Lloyd in a movie such as this, but not that he faired ill or anything. No, he actually did quite well, considering the limitations of script and story. Not much of special effects throughout the movie, which was sort of alright I suppose, because this was hardly the type of horror movie that needed an overwhelming array of special effects to work out.
crzy_matt So boring. Rose McGowan did a really great job in this movie, but the story line and the visual effects are so boring / cheap....
eloisebean First 10 minutes were promising. Leader character is out to prove ghosts aren't real, and gets contacted online about a haunted subway. The build up was promising, and then we get to the abandoned subway, where things take a nose dive. You'd think a dark abandoned underground subway, where a woman committed suicide would be at least entertaining, but it ends up being boring. This was such a waste of a set up. A talented writer and director would have made the most out of this, but it falls flat. Poor Rose wasn't given much to do, except stare at things, walk around, and tweet on her phone. FYI you don't have to hashtag every single word in your tweets! She has the exact same facial expression throughout. The dialogue is lifeless. In one scene rose's character rambles on and on about nothing, in run along sentences. It gets so mind numbing that you can see the look of complete boredom on the detective's face. Neither actor wants to be there, and are just waiting for their paycheck.
dcarsonhagy I won't be as hard on this movie as the other review. I just found it missed it's mark for the most part."The Sound" stars Rose McGowan as a "reporter" who has chosen to debunk the sightings of "ghosts". She believes--and actually tells some--"there is no such things as ghosts," and believes any paranormal sightings can always be debunked. It is when she gets a message from a follower stating "Have I got a story for you" she gets more than she bargained for.I found the lighting and sound were the major selling points of this movie. All I kept thinking was "you've got to get OUT of this place"! McGowan is alright (although I much preferred her earlier looks) and she goes through the motions quite well. It's just the "side story" really detracted me from focusing on the main point of the movie. The movie is unrated but contains adult situations and language.
