Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Nigel P A film with a twist at the end is often judged on that twist. Reading a number of online reviews of The Secret Village (or Salem Witch Hunters, as it has been known), it was predictable. I am happy to say I didn't find it so. I felt the audience was successfully lead to believe a couple of red herrings before the truth was finally revealed. That's not to say I found The Secret Village entirely satisfactory. As a horror, it was lacking any real chills. Instead, we get a thunderously urgent musical soundtrack accompanying tension-light scenes, furiously trying to convince us that very solid, tangible, cowled figures walking around in broad daylight is endlessly terrifying. Equally, the two heavies in constant pursuit of heroine Rachel (Ali Faulkner) bungle her capture every time, meaning that the next time they show up, the viewer is hardly given cause to be overly concerned.Ponderous though some of the scenes may be, all performances are fine. Faulkner excels, as does Jonathan Bennett as Greg – truly we don't know where his allegiances lie, and this is communicated very well.Yet the revelation at the end which really sells this. The viewer is left to trace the various clues throughout the film. Hardly incongruous at the time, they are given new meaning in retrospect.
Vlad Viziteu Probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Characters with no background, awful sound, scenes with no logic. The plot is obvious from the start, but the scenes seem to be taken of the context you know they should be in and that is just annoying. Most actors don't have much to say in this movie, and those who do, have very weak dialogs. Also there are some scenes in which characters actions have no sense, logic. I understand that sometimes my expectations should not be very high if I watch a low budget movie, but it should have some sense. The idea of the movie isn't that bad.A movie should be a piece of art, something I cant say about this one.
John Berry This is an incoherent mess. The music is stupid. The feel is low budget, it isn't scary. The parts that should be are just laughably bad.It skips like a damaged record, it makes as much sense as a dream does when you are awake. The 2.7 rating is probably generous. It isn't unwatchable, but is rather unenjoyable even if you have really low standards. The movie is inconsistent within it's internal logic, the viewer would have to be psychically linked to the main character and suffering from ergot poisoning for what is shown to make any sense. Find another movie to watch.
Sofia8489 The movie was a good watch. It started off well and ended very well. It seemed a little slow and confusing in the middle, but had a chilling suspense throughout.Location was beautiful and seemed to be a good vacation spot for fall. The movie urged the interest to read on ergot poisoning, It was not a horror movie and there was no explanation on the hooded characters as well. The ending scene though nice, seemed a little short and abrupt. It could have been slightly longer as it is still in mind.Overall, I liked the movie and the end twist.
