When the five puppies stumble upon the Five Power Rings of Inspiron (alien artifacts abandoned on Earth 16 years ago), they all develop super powers, and are enlisted in Captain Canine's battle against the evil Darkon alien Commander Drex. Captain Canine is commander of space ship Megasis and is from the planet Inspiron. He is the mortal enemy of the Commander Drex. In charge of protecting Princess Jorala and the Five Power Rings from Drex, Megasis places the rings in hiding on the planet Earth, and takes the form of a German Shepherd, intending to stay on earth in very deep cover. Adopted by aspiring young comic book artist Ian Shaeffer, and renamed Captain Canine, he spends 16 happy years on Earth, as Ian recounts the stories of his space adventures. But when the five Buddies discover the Power Rings and instantly develop superpowers, Captain Canine has to train them very quickly indeed - for Commander Drex is headed back to earth, and this time he's determined to succeed.

Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Paul Magne Haakonsen The children and young ones will definitely like "Super Buddies", that much is guaranteed.I sat down to watch "Super Buddies" together with my 6 year old son, whom enjoyed the movie quite a lot, and he was especially smitten with the puppy superheroes. And as an adult, I must say that the movie actually turned out to be fun enough to watch. Sure, you take into consideration that this is a kids movie, but it is still entertaining. The story told in "Super Buddies" about five puppies that accidentally become superheroes and must work together to stop a shape-shifting bully from outer space.Sure, this was as campy and corny as it gets, but again do take into consideration that this is a children's movie. And trust me, the story will sink right in with the kids. I can testify to that, because my son was thoroughly amused throughout the course of the movie, and he was often rooting for the puppies at the screen. The puppies had been trained well, because they performed quite adequately on the screen and it was a joy to watch them mill about doing their cute acts."Super Buddies" is actually a wholesome family movie that is well-worth taking the time to sit down and watch. We happened to enjoy it, and I am going to rate it a solid 6 out of 10 stars.
frankiacopelli Air Bud was a really good movie. I still like to watch it today. Why Disney executives had to make air bud and his children overstay their visit, I don't know. The movies just seemed to get worse and worse. And the series really does show, recycling constant jokes that we've heard in the other movies. Not to mention, in this movie, its execution as a superhero movie has been done so many times beforehand that it's not even that big of a deal anymore. The clichés are so obvious, and you could see them coming from a mile away. I think that even kids know that this movie franchise has way more movies than it should. And should another installment be released, expect me to return until these movies stop being made.
Shopaholic35 People are being a little too harsh about this movie, after all it is about a group of talking superhero puppies. I must admit that there is a slight lameness about this movie though. It's hilarious when a group of adults create a film that is trying to be "cool" when in fact it's not. I'm not sure if they're doing it ironically or if they're really trying and are just totally clueless. The whole thing is utterly ridiculous but the cuteness factor is off the chart which makes the movie bearable. The human's acting annoys me the most though. It's goofy and idiotic and insults a child's intelligence. It seems to me that people think kids are getting dumber...and the truth is they probably are since this is what they watch nowadays.Overall not too bad but this is definitely the worst movie out of the entire Disney Buddies series.
laurenwhite97 It is a "family friendly" movie in the fact it contains no bad language, violence, adult themes, or actual violence. My 6 year old niece loves it because it has adorable little puppies. However, one thing did annoy me very much. It was rather sexist. There is only one strong female character and she is victim of a stereotypical, hyper-feminine personality. Personally, if I had daughters i would not let them watch this movie. There are several strong male characters with their own personalities, but the female is, of course, stereotypical. The writers could not have been more shallow and two-dimensional. Find another movie, like Ponyo. :)
