Wordiezett So much average
FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
critofur I'm glad it has the Japanese language track available as I despise only having a dub (prob. just wouldn't watch if if that's the case) version available. I thought the animation quality was good. Some of the fight scenes are cool. Parts (like the old man) are funny some, and the girls are quite pleasing to the eye. It might be odd to find cartoon girls exciting, but anyway, Fuka is intriguing and beautiful and Sakura is quite sexy in the bathtub though the only thing beyond a G rating in this movie is the violence. This movie might not be very interesting to you unless you like either ANIME or Street Fighter. I loved playing Street Fighter (II) and my 1/2 Japanese son is named Ryu so I had to watch this movie, I wasn't expecting it to be any good so I wasn't disappointed. For what it is, a movie based on video game characters, I give it a 9 of 10, but just rating it compared to other movies I guess I would only give it a 6 with the disclaimer that it is short.
irish_psycho This film is set before the first Alpha Street Fighter film and is mainly about Akuma (Gouki) and Ryu. Other street fighter characters make appearances but they seem just put in and not really relevant to the main story, Ken and Sakura. You do get to see Akuma's brother Gouken and their master Goutetsu. All in all quite short which seems to be good as this is not that entertaining, the story moves very slowly along. The animation is different to the first Alpha film which is good cause that was plain terrible. So Capcom seemed to get one thing right in this prequel. But shouldn't be considered a whole street fighter film as not many of the characters are present.I give it 5 out of 10 and only because the intro fight scene and music at the start was pretty entertaining.
IdentityOne Rather than explain events in the previous release of Street Fighter Alpha, which in itself was a confusing mess, this release instead decides to look at the events prior to it.With this you get a little more of Ryu's quest to avenge his deceased master by fighting the killer responsible and a rather basic look at how Gouki became the evil killer responsible... There's also a brief section that tries to explain where the evil came from in the first place, but this is nothing more than a voice over and some pointless ghosts and so it fails miserablyWe then have a couple of added characters such as a lecherous old "master" (who supposedly takes Ryu on as an apprentice, but actually fails to teach him anything at all) and a couple of characters who were obviously added to please the fans, such as Ken and Sakura, who are there only to push the rather basic plot forward.Even the animation is on the poor side. Certain fight sequences feature a kind of warped/distorted technique that was similar to Project IG's style on the animated section of Kill Bill... only no where near as effective. The rest is a rather substandard affair where characters look noticeably basic when in motion, then slightly more detailed when not requiring much animation.I can't really comment too much on the soundtrack as I didn't pay much attention to it, but there is one scene that springs to mind at the very end that features a completely out of place drum and bass section... so had I paid more attention, the rest was probably just as bad.Sadly, there's really not much I can recommend about this film... but at least it was only 45 minutes long.
