To me, this movie is perfection.

Good concept, poorly executed.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Why You Might Like It: This is a decent abduction/kidnapping/"serial killer" film that you might enjoy if you are into that genre. It also brings the idea of technology into fold as the abductor uses the Internet chat rooms to lure teens to his home. The acting is very spotty, but I felt there were some solid performances by some including Dee Snider who plays the villain. Overall it is very mediocre and average, but okay and should keep you entertained if these type of films interest you.Why You Might Not Like It: Although I anticipate it is meant to be, the movie is a bit sensationalized and over the top. Dee Snider seems to deviate a bit from the content and get into some fairly sadistic themes and situations that don't add much to the final product. There is some really bad acting to go with some solid performances. Brett Harrelson is terrible and painful to watch as even his cast mates seem appalled by his acting in spots. Again, the story and product are fairly average and there are better films in this genre.Acting/Casting: 5* Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 5.5*Plot/Characters: 5* Entertainment Value: 5* Total - 5+5.5+5+5 = 20.5/4 = 5.125*

This movie is one of the few examples of the whole being greater than the sum of its' parts. The acting isn't great, the storyline is imperfect, the stereotypes are a little painful - in fact the only 2 things about this movie that border on being divine are the soundtrack... and the sum total of all these second rate parts - the creation of this movie is somewhat similar to having a statue manufactured from recycled car parts (if you look at the individual parts, you will think "piece of crap", but if you take a step back and look at it as a whole, you will see the magnificent glory of a work of art). If more movies were made like this, Hollywood would seem less like a factory and more like an artists, workshop.

I love a good horror/thriller move like the next person, but I found this movie disturbing and honestly I couldn't watch the whole thing. Thank God that the spoiler told me what would come next so I could stop short of seeing anymore torture. I'm sure my review just proves that the message of disturbing cinema was successful, but for me I thought it was horrific. To think that people actually live, believe and act like this makes me want to hide. I was however, surprised at how Dee Snider can look so different from the torturer to the tortured. The title female character was very convincing, I felt her pain and fear. I always wondered, how would a person pay for and light so many candles??

this is just the kind of movie that feeds weak losers like edwin hall (26 year old factory worker) father of 1 son. he liked this movie so much he allegedly got his kicks out of torturing and killing an 18 year old high school girl after kidnapping her from a target parking lot. there is another girl from the area who has been missing for over a month. for life may the boys in prison reverse the role of this feeble freak and may he (hall) wish for, plead for death. anyone with any sense of human decency would walk away from this simplistic plot. it appeals to the same kind of people that get their kicks out of torturing small animals. if it is intended to shock, there is nothing new or clever or worth the time it takes to sit through any part of the movie. the lack of depth is an insult to anyone who is a horror film fan.
